  • SAI Pump, after market Replacements

    Hi All

Just had the SAI pump fail on my mrs Polo GTI, just wondering if an after market $70 ebay "generic" replacement will do the trick?

    Example

Have looked at getting an OEM replacement but they are fairly pricey $400+

It's currently stock, I know I could do the delete and tune it, but really looking for a cheap solution.

    Thanks

I removed mine a couple of months ago...

$30 ebay cable, 5 minutes to code it out, an hour or so to remove all the junk - gone for good

Thanks simon, you may be right, deleting it sounds like the cheapest route. I currently have the cable and VCDS ready to go

Can you just delete the pump and cap off the combi & box, or do you have to remove all 3 components inc Combi & N249?

With the resistors, did 30ohm 10w from Jaycar do the trick?

      Cheers

yep, I just removed the pump and capped the combi and airbox (though I capped the combi at the head - no difference). I left the N249 in place and put a screw in the air line with a bit of sealant

I didn't use any resistors, because it's coded out in the map - the ECU doesn't go looking for it, doesn't try to turn it on - completely ignored

go here and download nefmoto flasher/logger: NefMoto ME7 ECU Flasher and Data Logger Version 1.9.3.2

read the instructions for reading your ECU and see if you can get a .bin file out of it. I'll help you from there

how'd you go? with nefmoto, in a nutshell you choose your cable from the drop-down, then click 'connect slow init', then on the 'KWP2000 Flashing' tab choose the "ME7 29F800BB.MemoryLayout.xml" file and click 'Full Read Flash' - takes about 3.5 minutes for my cable

Thanks for the heads up on this program, Had no idea you could do this kind of stuff without a proper Ross tech cable.
I'm fairly tech savvy but haven't haven't had much luck getting my old blue KKL ebay cable to work as it appears to have a CH304T USB Chipset not compatible with the FTDI driver.. Nefmoto wont detect it. I'll shop around for a new cable

by the time I got it to work I'd bought 3 cables, first I didn't realise the CH304 chip wouldn't work, so I read more and found that the cable needs to have the FT232 chip, so I bought one of those, but when it arrived it had a CH304 chip, so then I bought this cable from this seller

VAG COM KKL OBD2 USB Cable FTDI FT232RL Chip + 2x2 Cable for VCDS Lite US SHIP 603281795254 | eBay

but mine was $30 and came from Sydney (location said it was in Sydney, arrived in a few days)
