APR vs GIAC vs Revo - Need opinion

Guys,

May I know what's your opinion on this? What're the good & bad points for each of them? How much tuning points they've got? Just that GIAC and Revo ones have controller to select few mappings to choose from compared to APR. Pricing wise in here more or less the same.

Aside this, I have piggybag from Trust E-Manage blue from my previous ride. Can this be plugged-in to Polo?

From what i can gather,

APR with switch installed and comes with 2 profiles, has more torque than REVO less KW, cost $1590

Revo you have to buy the switch separately, has more KWs less torque than APR, costs $1200

GIAC haven't found much detail on, supposedly has the greater KW & Nm than both APR and REVO

Can I ask, have you looked into GIAC? Most people find it cheaper and it makes the same power

I do not believe you will get an accurate and straightforward answer on this question here, but through from what I have read online as well as the personal experiences of other drivers it seems that GIAC is a good product.

But there are alternatives of course as you have already noticed, it really comes down to personal choice and what product best suits your needs. I suggest you first establish what qualities you want your car to have and then find the product which matches with them most appropriately.

not an expert on this, but i think you can pop into a dealer and get a trial flash installed, which runs for a few hours. why not try that and make yr own mind up?

You'd best contact the suppliers and get their free trials to do a comparison yourself. Chip wars errupt over this topic because everyone becomes very loyal to the brand that they use.

So ... contact suppliers ... I think they all give about a 5 - 6 engine-hour trial period, do you research and make up your own mind.

Apparently, some people are unable to give an objective opinion when it comes to chips. Which kinda sucks as it means anyone who's interested in getting a chip to suit their needs has to trial them all, or just pick the one they think has the better name.

I still don't get why chip discussion is so taboo. No one is going to care if someone says I think tyre X was a better fit for my needs tyre Y. But chips? It ends in tears.

Ask your question, Max. But ... be aware, no one can quantify one as being better than another without the trials.

I think all people are asking is opinions, pros and cons, other peoples experience with the whole process. No one is asking for the defenite best. I can see where max_croft is coming from, we very regularly critique our whole car and discuss the pros and cons of everything about it, why is it hard for us to talk about chips I don't know what the secret is yet but i'm hoping to try more than one and try to give an unbiased opinion while trying to minimise any variables. Or maybe ill pick one over the others and join the chip warrrrsssss heheheh

id like to see if anybody could really tell the difference between them all, they are only minor but the feeling in your pants will still be the same. you'l be more than happy with what ever brand you use.

If you look at dyno charts associated with the various flash tunes, you can discern some differences in power curves.

problem with dynos are they are all different and show a wide variety of power diferences.
but im more talking about when your driving the car, it would be really hard to tell the difference between a few kw's and a bit of tourqe.

What Timbo is saying is how the curve goes, we all know they acheive similar power and torque at peak, but from memory REVO dumps torque on early and APR goes nice and smooth, so depending on your driving style and the rest of your car set up, 1 might suit you better.

Revo chip flash is $1200. Waiting price for their "Select" thingy which allows to switch between programs.

Unfortunately, Revo have phased out there SPS switches and you can no longer purchase this brand new. Their new Select switches only works with 2.0 FSI engine types. It goes for $399 ex

They had a VW National special the other week, offering free Select switches for each flash purchased at the show directly.
