Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Indicator problem

Hi, we have a 2012 VW polo and the dash light came on yesterday indicating there is a problem with the lights. I checked all the lights and everything appears to be working fine except when indicating left, the indicator light on the dash is flashing fast - this would indicate that one of the actual indicator bulbs has gone, however, all the indicators are working correctly. Any ideas? do these things have a flasher unit that may be faulty??

    Thanks
    Ben

Should indicate that a globe has gone; thats usually what it means.
Turn your hazards on then walk around the car and look at all six of them.
2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.
    1990 Mk1 Cabrio. 1.9 IDI w/ 18PSI.
    1985 Mazda T3500 adventuremobile. 1973 Superbug. 1972 Volvo 144 in poo-brown.
    Not including hers...

Thanks, I'll do that, but I did check that all 6 worked but using the indicators themselves, not with the hazards. What has got me confused is the discrepancy with blink rate between the actual indicators and the dash

Everything in these cars is computer controlled - the dash is hyperflashing to tell you that theres something wrong!

It could have an iffy bulb.

Have it scanned, that should point out exactly where the issue lies.

Thanks, problem has strangley resolved itself, so until it does it again I'll let it be.

            Cheers
