Oil light flashes 3 times and check oil message

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if any one can shed some light on this.. I have a polo gti MY12.5 and
I was driving home when the damn oil symbol flashed on my electronic dash 3 times and the check oil level message appeared.

In the owners manual this apparently means engine oil sensor faulty.

I then checked the dip stick and yes it's low. I checked owners manual again and the oil spec is VW 504.

I checked my last service report and VW used SynPower XL3 premium 5w30 so I searched for this online and according to the description this oil is only suppose to be used for VW 503 or 506. Wtf???

I clearly need oil in my car but which oil spec do I go with?

Penrite 5W 30 Enviro + Is on special at Autobarnfor $67 5L at the moment. It is a 504 -507 VW approved oil
Have used Penrite for 10 years in various vehicle without problems

DO NOT get the Enviro+ GF as its the wrong stuff

Now that is a joke!!! Thats a nice 100% markup on retail price, and they are obviously buying it in 44 gallon drums for probably $10 per litre.

My dealer charges $93 for 5L at spare parts for Carstrol ProfIII and $118 for using 4.2 L at a service.

Thats why I always provide my own.

Thanks for the info. I went to autobarn and the staff also recommended the same stuff.

^ i use the Penrite Enviro + 5w-40 in my Mk6 GTI (also comes in 5w-30).
