If you are changing the BOV for increased performance (with no real noise change, hence plumb back) then you are pretty much wasting your time. The OE one is pretty damn good. If you are looking for increased performance then there are much more effective solutions, from exhaust to ECU tuning.
If you are changing the BOV for increased noise (with no real performance increase) then you will have to live with slightly decreased fuel economy. This is due to the air lost through the BOV that the ECU is including in its fuel requirement calculations. It's not dramatic as the BOV is mostly only open at zero or low throttle, so little or no fuel is being injected.
