Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Stone Chip repair guidance

    Hey guys,

I was driving down a main road the other day when some erratic idiot speed out in front of me kicking up a bunch of rocks that resulted in the worlds tiniest chip on my windscreen, and two 3mm x 3mm stone chips on my roof. Both spots have been chipped back to bare metal and was wondering the best course of action.

Touch up paint and a buff? Franchise chip repairer? etc. etc.
    Previous VW; 6n3 Polo 16v, MkIII VR6
    Current; 9n3 Polo GTI

The way I would do it...touch a bit of primer on to the bare metal, get your paint, mix it will a tiny about of hardener and lacquer. Touch in chip till its a high spot, flat down polish.

I haven't tried this personally, but it seems to be highly rated in various online fora.
