Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Leuchte Programming and Polo 6C: A new form of DYI!!

I have no idea where this thread should be placed -so I've put it here in the expectation that the moderators will move it to an appropriate location.

My first inkling was to add this post into the thread titled: VCDS For 6R Polo (primarily GTI) thread. However, as those that have looked at the structure of the control modules in a Polo 6C will attest, the DNA of the vehicle is very, very different to it's similarly named cousin, the Polo 6R. Hence my reticence!

Anyhow the real reason for this post is to share some fundamental information that I hope will be useful to those here who want to alter the way that the external lights in the Polo 6C operate. I'm referring to "Leuchte programming" and to the emerging expertise that is now growing on a number of forums as members become more familiar with the different possibilities for altering lamp behaviour on MQB platform vehicles. Whilst at the current time, many of the control modules in the Polo 6C do not yet have label files (so it's not possible to meaningfully attribute Bytes and Bits to the car's functions), data relating to adaptation channels is readily available

Polo 6C owners can create adaptation maps of the control modules and the few admaps that I have seen for this vehicle confirm that the Leuchte channels are very similar to those in the Golf Mk7, Audi A3 8V and Seat Leon 5F. This means that it should be possible to translate Leuchte programming tweaks from these other vehicles (which are now more mature) and apply them to the Polo 6C.

The difference of course is the Leuchte channel designations which are unique to each model. So, to kick-off any possible interest in this topic, I enclose below a list of the Leuchte channel designations for the Polo 6C. I have sourced this material from a German forum (thanks TBAx), and the information has been translated using the Google application.
    Cheers
    Don

PS: None of this material applies to the Polo 6R

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.
