Love the car! Couldn't get the Voice Control to work so contacted my dealer ... to be advised that the Voice Control - for which the hardware is installed and all instructions are in the handbook - is an 'optional extra' that can be purchased as a 'software upgrade' direct from VW. Can't find ANYTHING about this on the specs or website and it absolutely SUCKS.

If it's similar to the 2012.5 version it can be enabled/disabled, and there are instructions for disabling it in the VCDS forum.Originally posted by Splashalot View PostSounds like something which can be enabled via VDCS.
There's a voice command button on the steering wheel, which I had re-coded to mute my stereoMk8 Golf GTI

I should have got Staz to disable mine when I was at his place or when we did the pipe mod ill0gitech. Its a stupidly annoying button you only ever hit when you are fighting to get in a small space or something and the thing talks on an on at volume 11 and I can never remember how to switch it off without turning the car off. If I could pull it out and pass it on I would happily give it to you Kroozza!Bury S9 XL cradle for Touch Adaptor for sale: http://tinyurl.com/hgmjc4j

You said you bought a Golf GTI. Why have you posted this in the Polo forum?Originally posted by Kroozaa View PostLove the car! What I got back from VW about it

 Hi

This part is not for our market.

FYI - All accessories that are available in Australia are shown on the current accessories list, if It’s not on the list then it has not been tested for ADR’s and developed for our market as yet and as such is not available for sale.

 Hope this helps.

hi all - just been reading your discussion about VC. My mk7 Golf also has the "voice" button and the button on the steering wheel. And I was also told by VW Australia that it would be an optional extra to install on the car.

However, I was able to persuade VWA to install it at no additional cost - after much debate and after a very long time arguing with the wrongly named "customer care" managers. The reason for me winning my claim was that the VW brochure for the mk7 (at the time) advertised that my model had VC. The brochure has now been changed.

Anyhow, the point of my post is to advise that the aftermarket fix is available for the MIB infotainment unit. But VW want over $400 to install the software patch (it's on a SD card). Also, whilst there is coding change needed on the control module at address 5F which can be done with a VCDS cable, making this change will do nothing without first loading the software on the SD card.
 Cheers

Why not? They are happy enough to sell the car here. What possible ADR could there be?
The buttons are on the media unit and the steering wheel so all the hardware is in place AND INCLUDED IN THE PURCHASE PRICE
If English (AUS) is a problem for them I'm quite comfortable with English (UK) and I have friends who would want to use their first language (eg German or English (US))
First time I touched the button I got the 'rising tone' as detailed in he handbook, so it was working then, but now nothing
I just want what I've paid for
