Engine Stop/Start who leaves it on?

I disabled mine using VagCom the first week I owned the car. If I forgot to disable it on each trip, when I get home and leave the car to open the garage door it would stop and require a complete restart with the key. I can see they need to include this feature to meet economy standards in Europe but it's of no benefit to me in a small NZ town.Originally posted by Mi16 Man View PostCan we disable via VAGCOM?
It's the worst feeling too, waiting to make a right turn in the middle of the intersection and having the engine stop!

Could you please list the procedure to disable stop/start in VagCom as it would be something that I would like to do when I get my car in OctMY19 Polo GTi 2.0 DSG

All you have to do is lift off the brake far enough to restart the engine but still keep the car stopped Its not hard to do and is how I manage it all the time. It is possibly illegal to disable a safety part of the vehicleOriginally posted by KiwiME View PostI disabled mine using VagCom the first week I owned the car. All you have to do is lift your foot off the brake far enough to start the motor but not far enough to let the car move.
Have always done that with no detriment to anything. If you ease up to a stop gently you can stop without the motor stopping as well.2021 Kamiq LE 110 , Moon White, BV cameras F & B

It absolutely causes more wear on the associated components. It will also flatten the battery if you don't drive regularly.
Stop/Start is fantastic! Lower emissions, saves the first owner fuel, then when it all goes wrong they can blame "modern technology" and charge you to fix it.

Have a manual 2015 Polo, no problem with Stop/Start. Once press clutch, the engine is back to life fairly quick. But sometimes, when I rolling the car in neutral from full stop, the engine picks up automatically once it can feel the speed change. Kind of reminding I reckon.2015 Jun Polo 66Tsi - Candy White - 5 Spd;
