  • Polo 6R and 6C coilovers

Do you guys know if the 6r and 6c share the same coilover suspension?

I currently have a 6r polo with FK Streetline coilovers and
I'm in the process of purchasing a 6c polo GTI.

    Exactly the same.

On second thoughts if you get the adaptive suspension then there may be a difference. One reason why I never wanted this feature, prefer the car be lower than have the adjustability of the adaptive (does not alter ride height) and still have it sitting up like a Toyota 4WD.

Whatever I expect your coilovers will still fit but you will lose the adjustability from inside the car?

Thanks for the response. The standard height is ridiculously high IMO. Will fit the coilovers within the first week of delivery.

Adaptive suspension is not available yet in South Africa so definitely won't be getting that.

You need to make sure they are rated for the same weight. I know with the 6r coilovers on my 77tsi couldn't be used on the GTI or the TDI models.

Yes your missing coilovers or lowering springs to get rid of the Polo GTI 4WD look. lol.

Yeah I got them to fit it for me before taking delivery.

That is 100% correct. Coilovers are weight specific and even if they fit they will constantly scrub if the weight raiting is incorrect. Even adding options to the car, like sunroof alters the car weight. Speak to your local suspension specialist to confirm. Click image for larger version

Seriously, a Polo Gti weighs ~1250 kgs and a sunroof adds around 30 kgs, that's 2.4%. Does anyone really think that adding 2.4% requires different spring and damper rates? What about when you fill it up with fuel, that's 30+ kgs, do you need different coil overs for when it's empty to when it's full? OMG what about when there's an 80 kg passenger, a quick pit stop to fit different coil overs?

Mathematically, adding 30 kgs in the form of sunroof would add about 2 mm to the preload of the standard springs, allowing for movement and leverage ratios. If someone suggests that means different coil overs (which would have an even high spring rate, therefore less preload) then I strongly suggest you find somewhere else to buy them because they are delusional.

                              Cheers
