  • Real world driving 6r vs 6c GTI

    Hi Guys,
Been a while, just wanting to get impressions from those who have moved up from the 6r to 6c GTI. Fuel consumption, oil consumption, handling, power, driving experience as a daily as a weekend mountain warrior etc

Good question as I think there are a few of us in the forum who have moved up.

    1. Fuel consumption: much the same if not improved.
    2. Oil consumption: zero in 2,000ks only so far. Exhaust tips stay clean as well.
    3. Handling: good/same but ride and ride height needs a fix (I am still waiting for my KW Street Comfort coilovers to arrive, 2 months now grrrr... but KW have given me 20% off for the long wait so should not complain). Took a while to adjust to the super light electric steering but I like it.
    4. Power: noticeably better than my as traded/tune etc removed std. 6R, should be sensational with a tune, can't wait.
    5. Driving experience for me: it's too bloody quiet! although at the recent Mallala VW day I was surprised how good the new DSG Polo GTIs sounded when they were thrashed past me while waiting my turns in the 0-100/stop exercise. Can't wait to fit my Milltek.

No regrets, it's not a car that should be compared (as some drivers did at the Malalla day) with the Scirocco and Golf Rs given the 'slight' price difference of $20k to 30k.
2015 Polo GTI with DA pack : Milltek Turbo back exhaust | DD spacer | JB1 | VWR Turbo Intake elbow and intake hose | BMC panel filter | KW Street Comfort coilovers | Whiteline adjust. endlinks | Harding DSG Perf. tune | Wagner Intercooler| Dotz Mugello 17 x 8 32ET

Good points there Car_nut. I can't compare as I didn't jump from 6R to 6C but its a long wait for new parts.. if they ever make them.

        Great feedback!
I am sure there are others with additional input as well, lets hear them..

I never drove the 6R but we considered buying a demo but the interior of the 6C was worth the extra money. Heaps better.
