Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey guys,

Noticed one slight difference between my Golf R and the Polo's stop start system... the R can be set to start hen touching the accelerator pedal, or foot removed from brake (if in acc mode). The Polo however seems to auto start whenever the foot is taken off the brake. Is there any way to change this to an accelerator tap??

And before you ask... it is particularly useful in heavy traffic, normal driving isnt an issue but sitting there with your foot on the brake when stuck stationary for close to an hour gets tiresome.

Hey mate, this would be due to the autohold feature which your golf R will have, but your Polo won't. When you have autohold enabled it wont start untill you press the accelerator as the auto hold 'holds the brake' for you, so when you press the accelerator the car knows you want to move foward, but without autohold it relies on brake pedal input, e.g; when you take your foot off the brake it knows you want to move foward, so it starts again.

Im talking about the button auto hold feature available with the electronic handbrake, totally different system mate and is exactly the answer to OP's question.

Thanks for clearing that up The One. I thought it might be the case but wasnt sure. Does make a lot of sense though.

              Slightly obtuse topic...

From what I read, the auto hold is a lot smarter than that. Might max out at 2 seconds with a timeout, but also sensitive to gradient, throttle position or rpm, clutch position.

Presumably it will be adjustable in VCDS. Yeti IIRC has three settings something like OFF/soft/strong. Diesel manual is better on the middle setting.
