Is the front plastic piece of the instrument cluster removable so I can clean the dust out of the cluster, or is it one piece?

I'm sure someone here will know.

It can be pulled apart. If you need I have a couple from golf's, I can take some pictures if you need.

Good to know, now to get the cluster out of the dash, and to get busy cleaning.

And try and work out how the dust got in there in the first place.

If you remove the plastic above the steering wheel it should be 2 t5? torx bits. 2 plugs on the back of the dash and then 10 or so torx bits on the back of the cluster. then rhe 2 parts seperate with the electronics clipped on the back half.
