Polo tsi 77 chip tune

Hello I'm considering buying a polo tsi,I'm fairly new looking it's the polo with 77 Kw,I've yet to test drive and will on the weekend.
Do any owners think its a bit sluggish only being 77 Kw's? And has anyone chiptned their polo to 100 kw's I've searched the forums without luck finding info on this.

Take a look here mate - there are a few 77TSI Polo owners on this forum who are running this tune from DNA. (they may chime in if they see this thread). For example this guy has the tune on his 77TSi: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ighlight=vwplo

I am also running a DNA tune on both my Golf GTI and Golf R and it gets a definite thumbs up recommendation from me.

Highly recomend the DNA tune. I got it in my 77 and love it, especially in cold weather - but some things to remember - torque is only increased past 1500 (and only really noticeable from 2200) so don't expect it to be quicker in city driving unless your pushing it.

Also in hot weather 30+ it pretty much runs like stock as the stock intercooler cannot cool down the higher compressed air and thus less power.

(Basic workings of a turbo - higher boost / compression = more heat = more expansion with less density and thus less air to burn) in hot weather this tune draws the line where the higher boost is offset by the higher temps. So keep this in mind if you live in a hot climate. In cold weather and damp roads = wheel spin in 3rd and many many smiles

I'm a torque man so I rarely push the car up high but from what I can tell it's still pretty lack lustre and doesn't really give you a kick like I thought a 23kw increase would give.

DNA are priced really well and through my experience the only ones who could actually tune my car (vieuzu and Etuners had no luck getting into the ecu - and I felt really conserned with their lack of knowledge)

more Powwwaaaaaaaa is always a good thing but drive one and see what you think, In the driving that i do around the suburbs, i find it never lacks in power and is quite punchy, you may be pleasantly surprised.

A mate of mine runs a 77tsi Polo and finds the power to be fine. He does drive at a reasonable pace and knows what a fast car is. His previous rides before the Polo were a Lotus Evora & a Lotus Elise (Sold the Evora to put a deposit on a house). What the car lacks in actual power is offset by the torque.

What you might like to do is upgrade the extremely soft dampers to koni & changing the weighting of the steering to GTI specs using VCDS.

I find 77kW is plenty of power for zipping in and out of traffic. It will pull most hills without effort. It will just about pull Mt Ousley in 6th but I do it easily in 5th because there's no point loading the engine (if you're familiar with Wollongong-Sydney trip) There has been a couple of times where I would have liked a little more power on highways for overtaking. Dropping from 6th to 5th to 4th doesnt overly give you much extra acceleration at high speeds.

Thanks lads I thought 77 Kw's was going to be slow as but it's kind of ok I'm not sure now with the chip tune maybe I should just buy a GTI instead my second choice was a golf 118 tsi 09 to 12 and possibly chip tune if needed more oomph but I should just leave the cars alone.

I would suggest avoiding the 1.4 twincharge engine and 7 speed DSG. Problem after problem.

If you think you might want more power than the 77 TSI, you can pick up Mk6 GTI golfs for low $20k with 40-50,000km on them. Plenty fast with 2.0T 155kw/280nm and much more reliable than the 1.4 twincharge engine.

Ok forgive my numbness the 1.4 twincharge is the polo gti's new model engine?
I don't want problems at all I used to own the old polo gti but never chip tuned was a pretty good car but now need a newer shape,and something reliable

118tsi is a lucky dip - maybe you get a good one, maybe not. Polo GTI is the same engine/trans - maybe good, maybe not.

Golf GTI is good. Skoda 118tsi good (1.8tsi turbo only), Skoda Octavia vRS is good. Fabia vRS same as polo GTI.

Thanks for the heads up I don't want any trouble and having to fiddle around with my car constantly I might have to look into the older polo GTI now they are pretty reliable

No I've one already, 6Rtsi 77kw 6M, and am wanting to open it up a little. It's my daily, and fun to drive, but I find it far to slow... However it's a torquey(?) little motor, which is very enjoyable in the tight corners and hills, of GC hinterlands.
Spose it depends on previous experience but I think it does need another 30kw or thereabouts
