The real year of the hatch back and vehicle price wars will begin next year until 2020 as the big manufacturers are stepping up their game (Ford, Renault, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan etc).
Yeah I can definitely see the competition rising mate.
To be honest though, out of all the three listed (I took a further look into them), the Polo GTI still seems to be winning me over.

What are your thoughts on any of the new VW Jettas?

Jettas are nice, but recently their resale value has declined % wise. It'd be either a Golf or Polo GTI (manual as the DSG is still running a dry 7 speed clutch). If you like VW why not have a look at the A3 sedan?

Saw one on the road today, must've been a VW head office runabout. Subtle changes but makes it look more like a baby mk7 GTI.
        MY13 Polo GTI - Candy white - Bi-xenons - H&R Sport Springs - Ronal Aristos

I had a look at the Audi's last night, the A3's are dearer. I'm trying to mark the $30k deadline with my next car. They're a nice little car though!

Nice, hopefully it's released real soon, I'm starting to get excited.

Was it a two door or four door?

Mk6 Golf GTi - you'll be able to get a 2012 with around 30,000km , DSG, bluetooth, sat nav etc for ~$27k so money left over for a tune and dump pipe

(i'm currently in the market for one so have been doing lots of research)
