My dealer said they(the dealer) provide a 1500km check over but mentioned nothing about an oil change.

That's a shame that no free service is provided at 1000 km, we have bought two Hyundai i30 over tha past 4 years and there was a free 1000km service with both cars. I have never recalled not getting a free service with any new vehicle that I've bought over the years. Sign of the times? Maybe one has to negotiate for free service at the time of purchase nowadays

Picked up my White Manual with Lux and DA Pack

Cool! Post some photos! What are the LED headlights like?

(The LED headlights is the only thing I like in the Lux pack- they didn't have a 6C GTI + Lux pack for me to see at the dealer. I'm wondering if the headlight is a sealed unit or if they're just using a LED H7 bulb in the normal headlight housing or projector housing. There are a bunch of LED H7 kits on eBay which might be good vs the Lux pack OEM LED headlight. Unlikely though.)

There is no projector housing as its a reflector style with Auto Levelling function.

The only thing that bothers me about the GTi, is that for the price the headunit should come standard with SatNav and DAB+. However, i'm waiting to see if VW engineers heads up into the next series of cars.

No run-in oil change required or recommended by VW. Just leave it in for 15,000km. That's what I did on my 1.8tsi & it usesno oil, gets great power & great economy.

Ok , thanks for the info about servicing. Just feels weird not having to change oil after first 1000km, old habits die hard

I remember thinking the same thing when we got the TDI 6R Polo ... someone knowledgeable here replied that they (purportedly) flush a bit of oil through the engine at the VW factory, and also nowadays with robots etc the machining and tolerances are so good that you don't expect bits of metal to be floating around in the oil like in the old days, hence no more 1000km oil change required.
