Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The box itself doesn't have the term 9W7. Can anyone here please confirm?

    Thanks

I couldn't find the bluetooth module under the seat (MY12 GTI). It also doesn't have the BT dongle. Could it be behind the RCD510 / centre console?

Posting it here as unsure where else to post:
Hey guys, I just bought a 9w7 module to replace the older version (9w3?) in my MY12 Polo GTI (has manual AC controls + RCD 510). I was under the impression that it is simple swap based on what I have read and seen (images and videos).

I tried looking for the module under the driver's seat but can't find it...it has the storage compartment. Could the module be behind it? i.e. I need to remove the drawer to access it or is it behind the RCD 510? Assuming the 9w7 can fit instead of the 9w3, can someone enlighten me as to where can I find this bluetooth module?

If this requires new wiring and stuff, then I am stuffed Am a complete noob in wiring / electronics and such.

            Thanks in advance.

Factory position is on the floor, not attached to the seat. Of it was aftermarket it could be under/behind the head unit.

RCD 510 was factory fitted. So I need to remove the storage tray to access it?

Good question. I bought it second hand so unsure. Dealer only confirmed that head unti was factory.

GTIs with factory BT also came standard with climatronic AC, so you have a retrofit. Depending on the installer it can be anywhere, behind the headunit, on top of the glovebox etc.

Thanks readerr0r...that makes sense. Will try and locate it as I really need the 9w7 installed.

Does anyone know of a VW mechanic in Sydney (north of the bridge or Alexandria side) who can help?

                        Cheers

JKU/audiupgrades has a variety of installers that know their thing, he should pass on the number for a syd installer.
