So I got the recall done to my car today, lucky for me I got in pretty soon. Drove it out of the shop and straight away I noticed an immediate shudder in the early gears, I mentioned this to the service tech he informed me that they have to do a 100km check and then check again at 200km because it takes a while for the gearbox to recalculate the gear ratios again.
I'm amazed they did yours so quickly, I haven't received a call / second letter as of yet.
As per the above post, did they change your clutch pack as well?

When they replaced mine for the third time (via a whole new DSG) they kept the car and drove it for the 100-200kms so they could get the gears right.
the problem is when they fix it and you drive it home - it feels great and responsive - but then it learns and goes back to boring!

Recalculate gear ratios huh?! I laughed so hard at that, some wee came out! Gear ratios are determine by the diameter of the gears WHEN THEY ARE CUT OUT OF METAL. A mechatronics unit can't recalculate a gear ratio because the gear ratios are set in well, not stone but metal!
They wonder why they have such a bad reputation. I was taught something very valuable by my grandfather and that was this: If you don't know what the hell you're talking about, then keep ones mouth shut!
The clutches will need to do an adaptation but there should be no shuddering once its done because everything should be working Mickey Mouse, after the effects of the adaptation has worn off, then they should start shuddering. Id say clamp forces on the clutch actuators isn't high enough and it's highlighting defects in the clutches in the car, either due to the new software being (again) defective or a dodgy mechatronics unit being installed.
Did you get a recall sticker inside the drivers side door? If so, what code is written on it?
I know the services guys never know what they are talking about. Honestly I'm no better though, I tend to second guess their expertise but normally seek advice elsewhere.
I haven't see anything on the driver door will look this afternoon. I recall the campaign number something QC277 or 200 can't remember. DSG is smoother but the shuddering is still apparent. Just means ill need to bring it back before selling.

Just so you know what you're lookin for, it doesn't contain any of the numbers or letters you mentioned it will be a 4 digit code starting with a "3".
I was assured that I got the recall done. There's nothing on drivers or passengers doors but I do have the service spec sheet. Ill check once I get home.

Check around the spare tyre bay underneath the boot floor. Thats where the recall / service campaign stickers have been placed in my car. Might be worth a shot!

Ok got the service note it says campaign 35C1, removed and replaced mechatronics unit as per campaign bulletin.
Yep, that's the recall code but if there is no sticker anywhere on the car (which by law they have to put on the vehicle so it is easily apparent to buyers that the recall has been carried out) i'd be a bit dubious, considering the 'tech' told you about the gear ratios... I still laugh at that
There has to be a sticker that from memory of the specific law says it needs to be in an easily visible place for the owner or subsequent buyers to see that the required recalls on the vehicle have been carried out. If you have had the 37g7 campaigncarried out as well, there should be a sticker for that too.
I think you may want to confer with VWAG...I'm in touch with several people in upper management who keep singing from the same song sheet:
Recall parts have yet to arrive and we expect the shipment to arrive late August early September. When parts do arrive for affected vehicles (unless the vehicle is unsafe to drive to which parts have been allocated for them as soon as possible) we will send a second letter dealing with vehicles with build dates from Feb 2010 to June 2010 and following later build dates as parts become more widely available.
I will check to see if it is in either of those places... but the door is a definite no.
I'd also like to mention that the sales team also advised me of the same message. Parts are only coming in now and letters are starting to be sent out. However speaking straight to a service tech he told me they had heaps of the parts in stock and would just put my car in asap. He was a champ in my eyes.
The service techs seem to have a better understanding but I don't talk to those guys much its all through the sales service guy. This is the guy that told me about the gear ratio junk.
