Reverse light LED or brighter bulb replacement

Ok I give up
Been looking around on the net on replacement bulb to help improve the reverse light which is one thing I do not like on the car...

Too many options... To many vague answers from vendors...

Help???.... Please...

I do apologise if this has been answered elsewhere .. I can't find it

I have some on order can let you know once they arrive. They are combination Cree and smd leds.

Trying them for the same reason as you: need a better light output in reverse. They were about $20 a pair from aliexpress.

I will have to check but I assume the polo uses a P21W for reverse light same as my golf and Octavia.

Will likely be a few weeks to arrive but I'll let you know the outcome. I also got some in red to test as stop lamps.

Do you have tinted glass? After often thinking that the one of the things that could be done much better was the reversing lights it suddenly dawned on me one day that maybe they'd seem brighter if I wasn't looking in my door mirrors through max legal tinted glass. And guess what? The difference is huge.

That said, it would be good to have decent reversing light without having to roll the windows down.

yeah tinted...however the lights were hopeless before I got it tinted...

Ok update:
Globes arrived.

I bought these ones. They are available in white, red and yellow (and blue and green?)

They appear very well built and I think worth spending a little more than some of the cheaper looking constructions floating around.
They have a lensed 7w Cree led and 12 SMD leds around the shaft so give off a very good projected light as well as filling the OEM housing in the same way as a filament globe.

Installed one white set as reverse lights and one set to test of reds in my stop lamps. I had previously tried some white LEDs in the tails and they dont work as they are brighter than the filament globes they replace so look pink through the red plastic.

The red ones actually look red and are slightly brighter than the stock globes. More importantly they light up full brightness instantly on applying the middle pedal.

The while globes through the clear housing for reverse are much brighter than the stock halogens, plus are crystal white rather than halogen white, so also look nicer to boot.

I took some photos on the phone but they are absolutely terrible, low light is never a forte of camera phones....

But I think the upgrade is worth it, might have to try and take some pics with the SLR to post.
