Polo 6R Boot Light issue

hi guys
my boot light stopped working properly long time ago, it started with a long delay before it turned on and now its completely stop working.
can anyone point me out the problems?

Apart from the normal "take it to a dealer" what you described sounds a bit like the switch is the issue.

Mine does exactly the same thing, with a delay between opening the boot and the light turning on.
Have you noticed a change in the sound/behaviour of the boot release mechanism by any chance?

have you actually checked the bulb? if the bulb is ok its more than likely the boot latch micro switch playing up. when you open the boot does it display the door open symbol on the dash panel?? ....VDUB....

It will be an open circuit some where in the boot, best to take it to stealership. Had the same problem with mine

In mine, the bulb is fine and no open door/boot light comes on the dash.

then it will need a new boot latch if the wiring is ok which it 99%of the time is.... not a hard job....VDUB...

everything appears ok, the bulb, holder and plug.

Have you actually got 12v at the plug?,

I just had a closer look at mine and the bulb and holder are fine, but there is no voltage at the plug at all, except occasionally when it decides to work.
So I think it's a switch or something that's failed.

sometimes the rear washer jet leaks into the boot latch and micro switch and causes issues... press and hold rear washer jet on for 10 seconds then open the tailgate and see if any water comes from the latch area from around the interior trim..

Thanks I'll try that later and report back.
Would putting the car through a touch less car wash maybe get water in places it shouldn't be?
