  • Capped price servicing

It's in another thread (Golf MK6)

But here is the Polo GTI example

Capped Price Servicing | Volkswagen Australia

Whilst not cheap, good to see its available.

I wonder which dealers will be 'participating'? and they charge you for Pollen filters and brake fluid on top of their capped price? Sounds less like a cap than listing a starting price.

    Full document (PDF) here

Some gems in there, including the capped pricing can change (its currently only valid until August), could go up, no way of knowing and by how much from what I'm reading.

Also, they can change the T's & C's when they like and don't appear to make mention that they will notify anyone when they do.

I am very wary of VW's servicing, so I am writing this as a caution with a pessimistic approach (I could also point out that the capped pricing is transferable if I want to be nice).

Sounds pretty good in some spots but also bad in others. The thing that bothers me is it isnt really a "capped price" considering its a different price at different intervals... Still interesting!

Is this good or bad compared to pre-2013 purchased cars? How much (or there abouts) are services without the capped pricing? Anyone able to share what they paid for 15,000, 30,000 etc services?

Well 'm about 3000km off my 30,000km service. I'm being quoted around $700-$750 from VW dealers. So yeah, I REALLY wish this applied to me. That's more than double the price.

They quote around $300-350 for the "smaller services" eg 15k and 45k.

This is why I've decided to get the big services done at a private servicer that uses VW parts to keep the price way down, and the smaller ones will be done at VW.

I believe Trendline, TDI and TSI owners should be able to get this capped servicing, why? There are no changes from 2010 til current.

So what leg does VW have to stand on if we make an issue of it? None, its called Discrimination and they would have to yield.

Lol well if anyone can get a dealer to conform with this then let me know.

I will try, I will say if they can do the service at the capped price I'll service my car there, if not I'll service it elsewhere. See what happens. I wonder if they'd prefer charging half price to getting nothing at all.

If you pick the Trendline, TDI or TSI it goes from 2010 to 2013...lol they've stuffed up...screen-shot the page despite their T/C's it says clear as crystal "1.2 77KW TSI 2010...servicing prices e.g 36 months is $420.00" VW has opened the flood gates if they argue the point...

I just shot an email off to the VW dealer at Sutherland. Will let you know his reply when I get it.

I just rang North Shore Volkswagen. They confirmed that it only applied to cars purchased from 1 Jan 13; I wouldn't be eligible as I purchased the car in April last year. So basically I have to pay an extra $90 on top of the capped servicing quote.

what to do, what to do..

Ring around for a suitable (not necessarily the lowest) quote or try the independents.

A search of the forum should give you a head start.

I thought that would be the case. In my case its $350 more for the same damn service. Which is why if they come back to me and tell me that, I'll just head straight to an independent who will do it way cheaper

I just rang VW Australia directly; they confirmed what the dealer said.

I think that despite what the website shows (in terms of MY2012 capped prices), when it comes down to it the Ts and Cs are very clear; it only applies to cars purchased from 1 Jan 2013.

In other words, no go for current owners of the cars!
