Their T n C's can say whatever they like, Fair trading has just told me "If its in writing/print and the price is reflective of your year model and class of vehicle TSi, TDI etc etc then the dealer/company "must" honor that price".

I'm thinking of just taking my business to european autotech rather than have a big fight with the dealer. I really don't want to pay $440 for a service when I know that others can get it for $350 purely on the basis of when they bought their car, even though the same work is being carried out.

As I understand it, a vehicle with a build date of 2010/2011/2012 that is purchased in 2013 qualifies for capped price servicing.

I also think the keyword here is 'capped' price servicing, as opposed to 'fixed' price servicing.

Put it this way...VW servicing...the extra coin that you pay is basically the "free" loan car you get whilst your vehicle is being serviced

That's what they want you to think anyway...

Mark at VW Sutherland confirmed this too, only cars sold in 2013 under the capped price servicing scheme get this. He did not have a lot of info, he said VW put this info out as a marketing ploy but have still not finalized details and the dealers themselves don’t know what cars it will properly apply to. He said its not an issue yet as no cars have yet been sold under this scheme.

For me it wouldn’t make a huge difference as my service includes a pollen filter change and brake fluid change to the total price would be closer to $600 even if I was covered in the scheme (rather than $680 normally)

So I won’t be servicing my car at a Volkswagen dealer! Too expensive. Likely Southern Star Autohaus will get my business.

Wow they haven't sold a car since the 1st January?

I guess he means that no cars sold since the 1st January have clocked up 15,000ks and so haven't come in for their first service.

Perhaps, but he did also say that VW still haven't finalized it all yet!

It's sure going to make people look and ask "Why am I paying so much more for the same service?"

I shot off an email to VW Australia asking why owners of CURRENT and IDENTICAL pre-2013 model vehicles were being discriminated against and have been left out of the capped price service scheme. I was sure to cc the dealer principal from where I purchased my car. I have received no repose from VW head office but the dealer principal personally emailed me back to offer capped price servicing at this particular dealership on my 2012 vehicle despite it not being applicable. A note has been made on my customer/vehicle file regarding this. She is very curious to hear the response from VW Group too...

I would actually be asking, "why go to a Volkswagen dealership at all for scheduled services?", when there are good alternative options in the form of independent workshops.

Only party that loses from overcharging is the customer.
