I saw a new Clio (not the RS) on the road yesterday in Taren Point. Red P-plater driving the socks off it. This sounds awful but coming up behind it, I thought I was coming up behind a Chery hatchback!

Remember torque talks, bulls**t walks!
Personally I dislike the look. Renault has really picked up their act In the looks department since the last Clio/Megane but the Clio is still to be desired. The Megane RS on the other hand, very fine indeed, just not 4wd
I do love the details about the car that the radio in the Clio spits out! Really good for track days...but nothing else really

So there must be some form of logic behind it...I've been looking at a Cup+ / Trophee Megane RS...but with all that power/torque as a FWD...nah uh >.<
The new Polo GTi / Golf GTi would have to rock my socks for me to remain with VW or its associated brands.

Good little hot hatch test in the new Wheels magazine.
Fabia vRS vs Swift Sport vs 208 GTI vs Fiesta ST. VW couldn't supply a Polo GTI so they provided a Fabia vRS instead.

I had a drive of the 208GTI on the weekend. I was impressed by the ride/handling balance. And the interior is far more stylish and better equipped than the Fiesta. Fiesta ST seats too narrow for me
Engine didn't quite have the grunt of my 1.8T Polo with APR. But it just needs a bit more of a rev.
On road... $35K... down to near $30K with little negotiation.
The Fiesta ST would be a better drive on a mountain road... but I think the 208 is a better car for 98% of the time and would handle a rough road better.

A negative comment that i keep reading about on the 208GTI is that you cant see the speedo/tacho because the steering wheel is in the way - due to the layout of the dash etc. This would be quite frustrating. Did you find this to be the case?

And if you do that, you actually have better vehicle control as you're sitting pretty much like you should when doing track days

Peugeot's idea is that you should have the wheel lower than normal to reduce strain on arms and shoulders on long drive.
Tried this on the Polo last year (wheel as low as it would go) on a long trip. Feels weird at first but it did make a noticeable different in comfort.
And to repeat. The 208GTI does have a stylish upmarket quality to it. The detailing is better than the competitors. Not a boy racer type car at all. It goes more to the same market as the Polo GTI.
And the colour range is perfect. A white, bright blue, metallic red, black, silver and mid grey. All great colours. VW are you listening!

Proper mechanical LSD and the perfohub thingy.... amazing how well these things get power to the ground and corner... when you take one for a serious drive you can see why reviewers rave about them...just can't describe in words how good they are
