What would your next car be after the Polo GTI?

I agree, the 6r driving pleasure just doesn't deliver as much as the numbers/specs suggests. I am currently looking for an old battered Honda s2000 to become a track car. Only thing stopping me is a '99 with 100,000km+ on it still costs 20,000!!! what the hell!

Mx5 would make just a nice track car in my opinion. And are dirt cheap.Originally posted by Zakarados View PostI agree, the 6r driving pleasure just doesn't deliver as much as the numbers/specs suggests. If you're not chasing a specific category that requires the S2000's spec's then check it out.Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Be like water my friend.

mx5 would be good, but I'm not a fan of the looks and the puny engine. I just love the noise of the 9000rpm engine and the old school VTEC crossover.Originally posted by yokom46 View PostMx5 would make just a nice track car in my opinion. And are dirt cheap.

How about a 4 year old 350z Track for about 30k?

That's what I found. My 86 practically begs to be driven hard, but it also feels great when driving through the numerous 40kph zones around my place. The Polo was capable, but not encouraging. It was more like "Oh, yes, we can go hard if you really feel like you must. But, really, I'd rather not".Originally posted by Zakarados View PostI agree, the 6r driving pleasure just doesn't deliver as much as the numbers/specs suggests.

I compete in the AKA TAG series.
125 2-stroke karts - That is more than enough to sate my appetite for racing / track time.
You could run a kart in the series for around 10k a year. Amazing fun and highly competitive.

I was thinking about this today and to be honest im pretty happy with my Polo. If VW were to bring out a 4wd Polo R in the next model I can see myself going that way for sure.2001 S4 Matte Charcoal metallic | M6 | MTM tuned | Zinram 3.5inch catback | SRM SMIC's | ST Coilovers | Work Meister S13p's

Too bad the Polo GTi cant even tow a trailer. 80kg max from what I remember from the spec sheet!Originally posted by yokom46 View PostI compete in the AKA TAG series.

Technically it can tow the same a the standard polo. Which by memory is 500kg un-braked 1500kg braked.
But for some reason (maybe the lowering / suspension / different rear section because of the battery / different rear bumper) makes it so the toy bar cannot be put on at all as an option.
Would be good pulling a trailer though, plenty of low down torque for the mountains.

Ah yeah, I also have a cheap 99 Magna I use for towing and tools as a little weekend thrash about.
