  • Can rear badge be removed?

Quick question for anyone who may know. Can the rear VW badge be removed without pulling the whole boot release out? Really want to paint my badge but don't want to risk over spray on the vinyl.

    Can rear badge be removed?

On the Golf's its just held on with clips. Use an old credit card to pry it off. Surely its similar on the Polos.

Cheers mate, had a little go at it but didn't seem to want to come off so didn't push my luck. I ended up spraying the whole thing and I may just cut some infills in left over wrap vinyl to make the badge stand out

Yeah comes off just like other VW's!

Use a credit card or flat head screwdriver.

Me and Polo_GTI had our background wrapped in white, looks awesome! Running black VW badge too

Yes, this was my plan but couldn't get the badge off (more so didn't want to break it by being too heavy handed). Might give it another crack on the weekend when i playing with the lights.

30 bucks OEM or 10 bucks for a cheapie!

Haha yeah i guess but thats $30 i'd prefer not to spend if i don't need to plus driving around with a bummy broken badge for a week while waiting on a new one doesn't work for me lol

Just get an old double bed sheet or two, cut a small slot in the middle of it and drape it over the entire back of the car and pop the badge through the slot and tape around the badge then paint away.

Maybe I'm missing something or misread.

Why not just take off the badge? No masking required

I've already dipped mine backing and all but if i can manage to remove the badge from the backing without destroying it i'll strip it and cover the backing plate in my wrap vinyl then redo the badge. The full black looks a bit average, really needs the backing plate to be body colour to work imo

Thoroughly agreed, hence why I went white to match the paint. Looks 1000x times better!
