Well I would say due to the fact that you have no turbo, quite tinny, but that's just speculation.

The only reason it sounds good on the GTI, TSI (and I would guess TDI) is because the turbo gives the engine a very low tone with base from the tourqe created. The fart created on the gear changes is a controled misfire when it cuts the throttle to change the gear.

Hey don't loose hope, really it's just trial and error. I did the middle delete on mine (1.2T) and it sounds pretty..."crap". It's not bad but not what I expected. Another member of this forum did a Rear delete on the 1.2T, pretty unheard off and it sounds like what I expected only better so now I have to give my local exhaust guy some more business XD.

        So it's trial and error.

1.2T=Rear Delete (not loud enough removing the Mid Resi)

1.4GTI=Mid Delete (could be too loud without the Muffler)

By the sound of the gear changes it's a 7-speed DSG.

+1 on the wow, and any legality issues.. sounds like this would be over the db limits?

Someone mentioned replacing stock with a smaller muffler, would this net a result maybe somewhere between that and stock, or is it just a total trial and error thing.

Those wheels and ride height on that car look sublime as well.

Doesn't seem that loud. Should be under the limit

I have a custom dump pipe, hi-flow cat and resonator on my manual 77TSI, which still has the stock exhaust after the resonator (I was chasing power improvements in combo with a tune, not a nice noise). Sounds pretty good under load above 3,000rpm, however after a year of tolerating the drainpipe gurgle at idle/low rpm and a particularly annoying rasp at 2,200rpm, I'm keen to replace the remaining stock exhaust. If getting a nice noise at all revs is as simple as straight piping it from the resonator then hell yeah, I'm doing it.

How does it go at constant revs on the highway Marcus, not too drony?
