The polo GTI is for transporting the shopping.
I love it. I seem to go shopping more often these days. Hahahahaha

If I was on my Ps and wanted a polo, I'd get the Polo 1.6TDI, for the torque, and diesel engines are more bullet proof.

If you are doing enough low throttle kms to keep the dpf clean. Otherwise the manual tsi is your baby.

BTW the only issue I have with the hill assist is that I forget my lancer doesnt have it.

Definitely nothing wrong with the TSI, I'd just choose the TDI.

EDIT: You don't have to change spark plugs in the TDI, so it works out to be pretty much even I suppose

How often do you have to change sparkies in a TSI?
You'll eventually need to replace the Glow plugs on the TDI anyway.

                      It's all trivial really.
In the end you get the car you enjoy driving the most.

I'll be honest, I think about getting an RX-8 for a long time. I mean, it is natural for a teenager to want a fast car right? A lot of us have been there so I'm sure you can empathise
But I only just realised that the maintenance and risk associated with it are just far too high, especially for a uni student. Plus, I really enjoy driving up mountains so I thought that an RX8 would be the perfect beast.

I also realised that I was having a blast in a big 2001 Ford Falcon AU so any car would be awesome, I don't think an RX-8 is necessary. I'm thinking now that the best course of action is to buy a nice car like a used Polo. I can really personalise it, throw in speakers, amps, sub woofers, get it tuned, still have an awesome time up the mountains, sipping on the fuel, leaving me money to spend elsewhere. Not to mention lowish maintenance and running costs.

My initial worry was that driving up mountains in a "spirited" fashion might be too difficult in a Polo.

I think later on when I do get a stable income, I can afford a trackable RX8 or 7 haha. But till then

It's really either the Polo 77TSI or the Golf 118TSI

Haha if you think a polo ain't spirited going up hills, think again!

I have the smaller 1.2T motor and even when I went on the cruse with the other GTI's, I still managed to keep up doing 100km/h round the mountains. I would only loose them on the straight where their 136kw (compated to my 77kw) leaves me in their soot cloud. For acceration you need tourqe and all the polos have plenty of it, just need to make sure you are in the correct rpm band for the turbo to work hard. >2500rpm <4000rpm

                            That's reassuring to here!

I think I'll be banging on about speed but once I get the car, I really wouldn't care haha. I think the kw/ton is similar to an AU falcon as well, if not better.

At least your eyes won't burn out of their sockets every time you look at the Polo.
