  • How To Use Your Polo's 'Midline' MFD

For anyone who isn't sure how to use their MFD, or just need a quick reference guide for those moments when you just can't quite think straight – yours truly has decided, out of goodwill, to create a guide JUST FOR YOU!
*Please note: This guide is for all VW Polo 77 TSI and 66 TDI models and does not apply to the Trendline or GTI*

    Firstly, an overview:

As you can see, the MFD is the big display between the Rev dial and the speedo.

    Next, the control stalk:

Here you can see that the MFD stalk has four main switches, the OK/Reset button, wiper adjustment and the up and down buttons for the MFD.

This is how we change what the MFD displays, by either pressing up or down, got it? Good.

Here are all of the things the midline MFD will display:

*To switch between '...display 1' and '...display 2' press the OK/Reset button*

The OK/Reset button is underneath the right hand stalk:

This button is used to reset the average displays and the driving time display and to set the speed warning display.

Here is an example of how the button can be used to reset an average display:

So there you go – a quick guide on how to use your shiny midline MFD on your Comfortline Polo 6R. Want anything else added here? Just leave a reply or PM me.
I hope this helps anyone who needs help

Firstly, using the up and down buttons, navigate to the speed warning display:

Once you're there, press the OK/reset button (do not hold)

The display will show '30 km/h' and will flash.

While the display is flashing, press the 'up' button. This will increase the speed warning by 5 km/h. If the display is not flashing, and is stuck on 30 km/h, press the OK/Reset button and then press the 'up' button.

Continue pressing the 'up' button until your desired speed is set. If you don't touch anything for a few seconds, the display will stop flashing – now the speed warning is ready.

When you want to remove the speed warning, just press the OK/Reset button and the display will clear.

        That's it!

lol, owned the polo for 2 months now and i never knew the wiper stalk controlled the menu options, always wondered how to change them but wasnt important enough to bother looking thru the manual ( i knew how to cycle thru views but thats it!)

youve put most 'professional' document makers to shame with that post, they could learn a thing or two from you !

(except last pic, is upsidey downz)

Different stalk on the GTI. It doesn't have the trip rocker or the reset. We use the right side of the steering wheel. Holding OK resets stuff.

You certainly do learn something new everyday. I pawed through all my car's manuals and couldn't figure ehat had happened to my VW Polo 2016 Mk6 MPG display (it had stated just showing the engine temperature, which got a bit boring). Had the car from new for 9 months and never thought the wiper controls worked the computer too! THANKS from Scotland!

                        Hi

I have a MY11 Polo 77TSI and my MFD does not have a "current speed" display. I have tried flicking through all the displays with the TRIP button.

Also, I cannot get into Settings. Have tried holding down both the TRIP UP and DOWN buttons for 5+ seconds but no menu appears on the MFD.

                        Can someone please, please assist?

                        Thanks!

Can this MFD run the Bluetooth streaming after a VCDS recode to ignore that the Touch Adaptor is missing?

bonbigirl: Hi - yes, getting-back the digital display on the MFD can be tricky. It's all explained on page 22 of your manual.

With the ignition turned-on and engine running, press the button "4" in the picture above 3 x times until tripmeter and odometer is displayed on the lower part of "2" - that's it!!

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

I am having an unusual issue with my MY2010 1.2 manual Polo's digital speedo. This option, which I rely on, has COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED from both menus 1 and 2.

This problem occurred a couple of years ago, when I changed the battery. I eventually got the digital speedo back by depressing SET for 5 - 10 seconds. Four "stick" letters appeared, then disappeared, and - voila! The digital speedo option re-appeared.

That fix isn't working this time. I have no idea why. The original fix was based on modifying a technique used in certain Golfs, but I have no idea why it worked, or if it was the correct way to approach the problem.

My Polo's MFD is controlled from the wiper stalk, not the steering wheel. If anyone has an idea, I'm open to all suggestions.
