Lets ease most peoples minds here...The Golf MkVI was a facelift of the MKV until the new MQB platform was built for the Golf Series.

The Polo 6R unlike the Polo 6N will be here and around the world around until about 2015/16 (especially the TSI). VGA has a truck load of 1.4 engines in stock to last the Polo GTI market for some time, the 77TSI is a new platform that is MQB (take a look at most of the standard kit and you'll find it on/in most Audi A1's Skoda Yeti's the parts numbers are one or two digits different to the Polo but fit regardless ).

Plenty of time to wait for the Series 2 of the MKVII GTI/R

Oh no doubt the 6R's platform (PQ25) has seen a lot of action. Check out a VCDS scan of the new Jetta, it's 6R city under that mexican booter! The A1 is far less electronically compatible than the Fabia though.

Don't forget that the MQB is destined for almost every VW and there is some talk of the Polo changing to it in 2014/15
