However, the other electronics manual shows that there are 2 connectors going to unit J519 which says that it controls all the onboard functions like auto wipers, one touch windows etc...

Which one is the can gateway is anyone's guess...
CAN Gateway has only one connector, J519 is just the BCM/Cent. Conv and that's behind the Steering wheel.

This is the Diagram of the CAN Gateway for the Polo from EKTA (Item 3)

But it's not exactly pin point... The J533 is the CAN Gateway though, so who knows which manual is correct?

Number 3 in that diagram is the CAN gateway according to the Vw wiring repair manual.

Sorry I meant J533, edited my previous post for clarity. So do you think the CAN Gateway/J533 is under the A Pillar behind the glovebox?

Has anyone that ordered the Polar FIS+ got it yet? If so, have you plugged it in? Does it work? The guys at Auto Polar would like a pic if you have so I you could let me know, that would be good

After a bunch of looking behind the glovebox and then searching online I found this

Volkswagen Workshop Manuals - Polo Mk5 - Data bus diagnostic interfaceJ533

"The data bus diagnostic interface -J533- is integrated into the onboard supply control unit -J519-. The data bus diagnostic interface -J533- is designed as a separate control unit on vehicles with recovery (regenerative braking force) only."

Which means the CAN Gateway is actually integrated into the BCM/Central electronics module
This is further verified by checking the advanced ID's in VCDS (The Hardware ID's are the same for both).

So right now the Polar FIS isn't compatible with the Polo, unless they make a special adapter.

Checked and Polo is not on the list of supported models - bugger!

Complete list of models supported are:

                - Volkswagen Golf5
                - Volkswagen Golf6
                - Volkswagen Jetta
                - Volkswagen Caddy
                - Volkswagen Tiguan
                - Volkswagen Touran
                - Volkswagen EOS
                - Volkswagen Passat
                - Volkswagen Scirocco
                - Volkswagen Sharan
                - Volkswagen Touran
                - Volkswagen Tiguan
                - Skoda Octavia (1Z) -Pre y Restiling
                - Skoda Superb II
                - Skoda Fabia (new)
                - Skoda Roomster
                - Seat Toledo 2012 (new)
                - Seat Alhambra
                - Seat Leon
                - Seat Altea

I think you're right it's going to need a different cable/connection at minimum or a couple of new control modules in worst case. Looks like they've built the 2 bits into the one piece of hardware and done away with the connector inbetween....
