I was going to say there was some funny things in that spec sheet (rain sensor and rear vision mirror dimmer as a $500 option, when its now part of the free comfort pack etc) and then realised its the NZ version... Did like the $500 serron wheel option.... shame we werent offered that here...

Yeah it wouldn't really reflect what we get here. NZ actually had the Detroits as a $200 option since launch! Didn't know you could get Serron wheels for the polo though.

I just checked my contract and the model code ive been given is a MY13 model code. Its 6R19V7/12. Im not sure whether the /12 means its a MY12 model or thats just showing month and year of production...according to the PDF

anyone able to shed some light?

According to my dealer "/12" means it is a model year 2012 car.

Had a look at my papers this morning and im just curious as to how one wouild tell if they had a my12, 12.5 or 13? My build date was 04/12.

4/12 would make it a MY12.5. MY13 started production in June

Hmm... I dunno... If your car is already in Australia (and pick up in 2 weeks means its pretty close if its not already landed... so its either already in-country or on a ship about to reach WA - like the Grand Mercury, which my car is on) then... well... you may be lucky, but I'm not 100% convinced it will be a MY13... I say that as it was touch n go if my car would be a MY13 and the build dates meant it probably isn't (hence I changed my forum sig back to MY12.5). To make the sailing when of a ship like the Grand Mercury and be MY13 it would have to be one of the very first. PM me your VIN if you like, it may be after mine and it might be as the dealer said, but Id be skeptical....

As for the wheels... yep all MY13s into Aus will get the Detroits, its not an option AFAIK. This was confirmed t me when I asked VWA when the bulletins first came out.

Edited to add... Grand Mercury has just hit Fremantle Port... if your car is on that ship, you will defo get it within 2 weeks... if your car is on a later ship arriving in say a week then you may still get it in 2 weeks and are more likely to be on for a MY13... Im dying to know what you get now! haha.

The time has finally arrived!!!! Will be picking up my brand new Flash red MY13 Polo GTI tomorrow afternoon!!!
The wait has been killing me but it was worth it in the end because if I had bought one a month ago (a white one that was already in the show room), I would have missed out on the 18" Detroit wheels as it was a MY12.5

Yes, 17" not 18".

I really hope that you get exactly what the dealer promises though, as some have found out, they're good at telling fibs and reneging on deals (5 doors instead of 3 for example) and being sooooo close to the changeover for production without actually knowing when the changeover is......

I've got an email sitting in my inbox from the dealer saying that I will be getting 18" Detroits!!! Bloody hell....I got all excited for nothing then...damit!!! They better be Detroits at least!
