MY13 Polo GTI

Hi All

Hoping to pick up our very first VW in a fortnight's time..its a MY13 Polo GTI (flash red) and it replaces my wife's 2005 Holden Barina.

I spoke to the dealer again this morning about the MY13 model and he confirmed that the only update to it are the detroit wheels and nothing else.

Just wondering if the info in the "Polo 6R forum stickies" is correct in stating that the CTHE motor will be replacing the existing CAVE motor? And it also states that the detroit wheels are an option but the dealer told me that they will be standards on the car?

Any feedback on this will be greatly appreciated!

Firstly congrats Scott! You and your wife are going to LOVE it!

As for the motor, I'm not sure. Rumours are yes but no facts as far as I know.

Detroits... not sure either. I'm not going to speculate, so I will leave that for someone else!

Hi Scott,

i was at the dealer over the weekend asking a couple of questions as i am expecting my MY13 Polo GTI in October. Dealer did not have a clue about the CTHE motor lol. but he did show me the MY13 bulletin update they receive from VAG and 17" detroits are confirmed standard with all MY13 Polo GTI's(tried to get a copy of the PDF but got denied)

Hmm... I dunno... If your car is already in Australia (and pick up in 2 weeks means its pretty close if its not already landed... so its either already in-country or on a ship about to reach WA - like the Grand Mercury, which my car is on) then... well... you may be lucky, but I'm not 100% convinced it will be a MY13... I say that as it was touch n go if my car would be a MY13 and the build dates meant it probably isn't (hence I changed my forum sig back to MY12.5). To make the sailing when of a ship like the Grand Mercury and be MY13 it would have to be one of the very first. PM me your VIN if you like, it may be after mine and it might be as the dealer said, but Id be skeptical....

As for the wheels... yep all MY13s into Aus will get the Detroits, its not an option AFAIK. This was confirmed t me when I asked VWA when the bulletins first came out.

Edited to add... Grand Mercury has just hit Fremantle Port... if your car is on that ship, you will defo get it within 2 weeks... if your car is on a later ship arriving in say a week then you may still get it in 2 weeks and are more likely to be on for a MY13... Im dying to know what you get now! haha.

Oh, and CTHE... i think thats starts in production later in the year, Its my bad for suggesting that MY13 cars would get this in a thread on here, and Ive lived to regret it LOL

if its arriving in a fortnight i doubt its a my13.. I could have purchased a my12.5 which arrives from the boat in 3 weeks..so doubt VW would have some my13's arriving before some my12.5's are due to land..

Which makes me wonder why we bother ordering... because i went in..asked for a Candy white with zenons..and bam one arrives in brisbane in 3 weeks. no wait? Then I found out about the my13 and have chosen to wait!

Well as you highlight, the order book is part full of dealer cars, hence some buyers get lucky and cars are almost here so you can have one in a few weeks/months etc. Some dealers sold their allocation ages back and only have new orders on the list or cancelled orders... depends on where you are and who you order from it seems. I had a cancelled order and it was a 6mth wait, better than the 12-18 originally quoted.

I just bought a Polo GTI and im picking it up on the 11th. Do you reckon the dealerships would have any 17" detroits laying around they would swap onto my car or are they limited to very late MY12.5 and MY13 cars?

EDIT: Im not quite sure if my cars a MY12 or MY12.5, the dealer hasnt even got the details for the car yet which is weird. Ill call them up tomorrow and get the details from them!

Sadly Polo compatible detroits won't be in the country until the MY13 cars come, I imagine they'll be pretty sought after 2nd hand too

We wanted the xenons and sunroof but the dealer said that we had to order this from factory and the wait will be at least 6 months! The red one we are getting was already on the way here so it was not possible to option it

I couldn't wait 6 months I needed a car! I'm going to have to ask the dealer if she knows what mine is! I don't even know what mine is! It's being transferred from another dealer to the one I bought it from.

I'm really hoping its a MY12.5, I think I heard her say it arrived a couple weeks ago.

Jay, If it arrived a few weeks back then its a MY12.5 at the very least, maybe a MY13, but that's unlikely as i said above.
