All this talk of Xennons always makes me smile... I chose my car without them. Shock horror! LOL. The reason being, Im not convinced by the things. Ive had a lot of lights in my time and whilst the worst were sealed beams in a 1976 mini (in that car high beam didnt even upset oncoming traffic, they were like candles!), the best were probably my WRX with PIAA upgrades and the PIAA driving lights full on at night on country lanes, you could see for miles... Anyway, I digress... my current car has Xennons and I find them rubbish. Ok, maybe its me and my eyesight perhaps isnt what it was (hardly), but for spirited night driving I dont like the things, personally I think decent halogens can be fine, especially the modern ones. So, I would choose a tune over the lights every day of the week. Sure i like the look of the xennons, but eeek... 1600bucks for a few tenths of 'look' is just not for me, Id rather save the cash and spend it on upgrades... bear in mind tho, I even took that ethos to the limit and refused to pay for upgraded audio, BT/MDI tho I did spring for the comfort pack... in the end the other things were in the MY12.5-on spec anyway so ive got them, but not lights... no thanks... I'll keep the cash and the halogens.

(not everyone will agree with this post... but that's why most people didnt order a blue 3 door haha! )

Yeah, that's a fair point JonW but having driven at night with the xenons alongside my girlfriend whos Pug 207 has possibly the best halogen lights I have ever seen, you could quite clearly see much further up the road with my xenons on high beam vs her halogens. Whenever I drive a car with halogen lights now, I freak out because I can feel my eyes straining to see, things just aren't as clear. Interesting how you point out about your eyesight because Xenon lights are better for your eyes, reducing strain and fatigue due to the light being more natural and like daylight. I didn't get mine for looks, I got mine for the penetration of the light and on a long dark Calder highway, outside of sealake at night, kangaroos suddenly become much clearer, much further away but hey, that's just me

LOL, well I dont see many roos in the parts of Sydney I go to, drive bys, dodgy deals and all you can eat buffets all look better in sepia anyway

To be honest, on my current Honda the Xenons are so bad that you get eye strain driving it across country, but maybe its a honda thing... Im sure if you spend 1600 (or whatever it is) on Xenons that they are great, I just dont see (sic) the value... but as i said, I am a bit different to most

Is the OP concerned with the lighting performance or is he/she just after the looks of a Xenon setup?

I know ADR,s state cars with xenons have to have washers. but my last car had them and the washers only worked if the lights where on and i used the windscreen washer spray. not sure if the VW,s are the same but i never used this. I find that cars with xenons even if there dirty ar less annoying then those HID kits people fit.

I'm specifically doing it for looks and then for better lighting... Mainly for looks though as I think the actual headlamps look much better. I also wanted the DRLs more importantly

Don't install the washer system, because unless you install the levelling system as well, it'll still fall short of ADR requirements.

Either go all out, or just the install the headlamps as is.

That's what I'm thinking. I just don't know what I'm up against. Like will all the wiring work, do the switches internally work the same, what coding and mounting takes place? There is an adapter that comes with it what's this for?

Is it just a simple swap of headlights and that's it? I'm to novice to know what I'm up against and don't want to spend close to $1000 without the security of it actually working correctly.

Ps: the guy keeps emailing me asking me if I need assistance and saying he can do better deal...etc

Of course he is...Spain is down the poo pipe and any business is much needed for him.

You could also buy the lights...for asthetic looks and at sale just replace them with the Halogens...and sell the Xenons on Ebay in order to be ADR compliant... :/

Or you can build your own halogen lense in the stock units like this guy. Modded his H4 units:

                        left stock, right halogen

I'm not trying to rain on your parade in regards to the Xenons I'm just trying to be a realist about it. My recommendation would be to fit the lights and then just run halogen globes, but it's still not that simple. The wiring is different, the control modules are different, you still need to install the sensors to run the self leveling system otherwise there will be errors and fault codes coming at you from all angles.

My advice would be either buy the entire kit with the washer system, or just buy replica halogen ready versions off ebay. You will get the visual effect with either.

                            I'm thinking of these:

DRL-Volkswagen Polo day light products, buy DRL-Volkswagen Polo day light products from alibaba.com

What do you think? similar finish the new 911 porsche instead of fogs its DRL leds.

Where do these fit? Where the Fog lights are? 6R Polo Right?

As my GTI Polo's head lamps are on all the time in 0 then switch to Parkers on only, I can take out the parker bulbs, pull the light switch to turn the fogs on, replace the fog lamps with the DRL's and presto! DRL's! Then switch the lamps on Full and the headlamps are on too in normal driving at night!

                                Win?
