Anyone got a Sway-Bar installed? Care to voice opinions???
What I would suggest for you is to ugrade the front as well, but leave it for a few months after fitting a rear. This will be able to show you the clear differences. Another thing to do (as I said previously) is to look into polyurethane bushes and/or spherical rod-ends on the sway bar links.
Cool... thanks. I have ordered the sway-bar and hope to install it this weekend. I'll see what the difference is like after doing some road tests. Hopefully it will be an improvement. I'll look into front and bushes later down the track.
Did you say you had a sway-bar installed as well gavs?

Each and nearly every corner (when pushed) on GTi feels like a boat in comparison. I don't wish to eliminate body roll I just want to reduce it.
Also I want to add that the GTi handles very well and does in fact stick to the road on cornering my only compliant is that I don't want to feel that I'm falling out of my seat when doing so.
While I agree with gav that the 1st thing to try is the rear anti-roll bar, I don't think you will be satisfied until you get a heavier front anti-roll bar (and ramp up the setting of the rear anti-roll bar to suit). The rear anti-roll bar alone will not noticably reduce the body roll as Nicholas Egan noted but will give the car better balance by increasing the rear slip angles to better match the front.
As you are finding, though, body roll does not necessarily equate to lack of grip (as anyone used to hooning in cheap hire cars would know )
Resident grumpy old fart VW - Metallic Paint, Radial Tyres, Laminated Windscreen, Electric Windows, VW Alloy Wheels, Variable Geometry Exhaust Driven Supercharger, Direct Unit Fuel Injection, Adiabatic Ignition, MacPherson Struts front, Torsion Beam rear, Coil Springs, Hydraulic Dampers, Front Anti-Roll Bar, Disc Brakes, Bosch ECU, ABS

Oh I do realize that handling does not mean little to no body roll. I guess what im saying is It's just more of being an extention of the cars handing abilities around corners and what not. I like to feel in control and not a passenger of my own car. I'm just getting used to the DSG. I find my left hand constantly on the gear stick lol...

Getting the sway-bar order but one question. I'm getting it from a friend who owns a mechanical garage and he has said he can get same bar from different providers. Is it safe to stay with Whiteline or what? I can't remember the other names but one was King and another was Trak A or something. Can't really find anything on the net for either...

I'm a little confused by some of the comments, I find minor changes make a huge difference, but;
- I have the last polo
- its lowered, has both arb's, braces, etc
For twisty smooth roads I would happily drive with both sways on hard. At speeds below 70kmph, the turn in grip is great, still with the tyres limitations. For normal driving I now have both whiteline bars on soft and low tyre pressures.
Understanding what a arb can do and that it's not going to be close to a LSD is important. Cool toy, easy to try the back one, front one requires much more effort.

Its good to see it makes a difference. Hopefully I will notice it, just need to know what brand. Got quoted $250 for whiteline and the others were even cheaper.

I would have sold you my Whiteline RSB for $200. Had barely any use at all.
Ah well.
I would have bought it if you were a day earlier... I just got it ordered today. Why did you take it off?
I just saw your post as well it's dated 28/03 that's way to far back for me to have found. I can always cancel order. Where about's are you based?
Never heard of K-mac but it's pretty hard to stuff up an anti-roll bar....
I'll take that as a positive, sounds like I might not be able to cancel order. He is putting through the request tomorrow but reckons it'll be there come morning if so I have to lump it.
yeah never heard of them and there isn't much info online. This post made me feel better... It seems K-Mac are pretty good.
