Why are you starting a new thread when all these issues are covered in other ones?
remember... a lot of these issues are in early build cars (2010- early 2011). You will get one where, hoepfully, any production fixes will have been applied.
The only other car around that matches the Polo Gti in concept and price is the DS3 Sport.
The Fiesta ST is looking increasingly unlikely to show up. Ford have started to get all guarded about a possible release date.
Fiat? Abarth only at this stage. Way too exxy.
Renault - Clio RS with turbo engine is probably 12 months away and will be overpriced like the current model.
The ONLY interesting hot small hatches we may get in the near future are from the Koreans. Rio and Veloster turbo.
A Kia Rio 3 door turbo (150kw 1.6L) would be a nice thing.

Mine's a 04/11 build 3 door GTi. No issues at all so far. When I test drove it I didn't expect it to be as good as it was.
I looked at the Clio RS and DS3 as well, I thought the GTi was for me considering price/performance/resale overall.
A Twingo RS or DS3 Racing would've been a better chance if we got them.MY11.5 6R GTI 3 DOOR

My noise is different, comes from the back of the clock, it seems to be inside the cockpit, but it's caused by the fuel tubes just on the engine room...Originally posted by sorcam View PostNot wanting to hijack the thead, but when the "Sound Amplyfier"?? was removed the noise stopped. So this might be a different vibration noise.. Although have you seen this first hand? Is this the noise your referring to? 2011 Polo GTI vibration noise - YouTube
Today, driving the GTI, I found that touching the internal mirror with an hand it vibrates a lot! No noises from it, but there is a strong vibration all over the windshield, noticeable touching the mirror body...
Probably this engine generates a lot of thin vibration while under stress, this could easely create those kind of noises somewhere...

sorcam, this is most likely the common issue (as mine was) of a dodgy batch of noise generators. After being fixed, no longer an issue. THe oil issue, well you should be taking this up with the dealership, simple as that. No point complaining here to be honest with you.Originally posted by sorcam View PostTo be honest I regret my purchase. Oil consumption and vibration noises are wearing me down. I'm actually starting to dislike driving the car as everytime I accelerate I have this moderate-to-loud buzzing/vibration noise coming from the dash. I'll look to sell after 1.5 years and just cut my losses.
I love mine. Yeah, i had a few rattles and even not being an oil drinker, it still drinks some but hey, the engine is designed to do that, its the trade off for fuel economy and it's actually worse insummer due to higher temps etc and cooling down the engine from the inside.
Honestly, show me another car that issues aside can match the polo gti for the same coin, the same level of fit and finish, cabin ambience and performance and i'll run around nicky nude with a placard advertising it. It just can't be done.
I had a panic just before picking mine up after reading about the issues, but when performance tuners seem to be able to sort alot out with just a few strokes of the keyboard AND make the car even more potent, just shows that the VW engineering department leve a lot to be desired
Get it is all I can say
I'm off for a fang in mine now, see if I can show that blue RS200 Clio around here a few more tricks through warrandyte

Citroen DS3 Dsport is a good contender. AND its a proper manual gearbox.Originally posted by gavs View Postsorcam, this is most likely the common issue (as mine was) of a dodgy batch of noise generators. IMO its quality of interior materials is better and you get a lot of kit. Haven't seen any problems with the DS3 except for the 5-speed manual box in the Dsign models overseas.

LOL thx, but I have the auto because there were no 6-spd manuals available at the time of purchase as I needed a replacement for the polo ASAP.Originally posted by Transporter View PostI wish you it stays that way.

This is very true (ha apart from running around in the nicky nude, I'll leave that to you) and why I chose one, and granted mine is an earlier one as well its expected that they haven't ironed out all the bugs in it. BUT I would expect the oil burning issue to be resolving which reading on the forums doesn't appear to be the case. Volkswagen also knows its an issue yet as we can also see on the forum - people are being discouraged or told they can't do an oil consumption test or are told that it is normal for VWs to burn that much oil (when poor sealing piston rings seem to be the fault).Originally posted by gavs View PostHonestly, show me another car that issues aside can match the polo gti for the same coin, the same level of fit and finish, cabin ambience and performance and i'll run around nicky nude with a placard advertising it. I'm hopeful that they will get the issues sorted out and when it comes to end of warranty I can get a new veedub equally cool. I don't regret my purchase at all but do feel sad that I don't feel I can trust my car to be reliable after the warranty period and am also a little jealous I've had all the issues with it and my sisters 2007 TDI golf has had none lol.
