  • Polo 6R GTI - Good or Bad???

    Hi All,

I have been reading though the forums for quite some time now and getting a very clear message that alot of Polo 6R GTI owners are not happy with the oil consumption.

I'm also starting to notice less and less positive feedback about the car.

Are all you guys who own a GTI experiencing the oil consumptions issues?

Im really starting to think twice about cancelling my order and getting a different car

Id love to hear fellow owners views on the matter.

    Thanks!

I have had oil issues with my car- now have had engine rebuild and touch wood no oil issues as yet, I do however still have an issue with soot all over the back of the car.

Apart from that issue, I love the car. It's fun to drive, comfortable, looks awesome... ticks all the boxes.

BUT because of the issues with the oil etc.. as much as I love everything else about it, I cannot see me keeping it past warranty.

Not all the users have oil consumption issues, but a lot of them...

Fortunately mine is clear about this problem for now...

The car is great, it's a bullet, I can't desire anything different, just wonderful...

From May 2012 will be installed a different engine on the GTI: CTHE instead of the current CAVE. I don't know exactly what will change, but you could check with your dealer on ETKA and be sure that your order will include that new engine. At least you could delay you order instead of cancel it...

To be honest I regret my purchase. Oil consumption and vibration noises are wearing me down. I'm actually starting to dislike driving the car as everytime I accelerate I have this moderate-to-loud buzzing/vibration noise coming from the dash. I'll look to sell after 1.5 years and just cut my losses.

I've got a vibration noise coming from the dash but only since I got the RCD510 installed... Oil issues I've not read much about the problem but the car says the temp is at 97ish or around there I think or 87 and I think it's ok? Will find out when mine was built but it came to Australia in Dec.

If you want a moderate performing car and want to fork out the extra coin get a Golf GTI...

            I love my 77TSI!!!

If you check out the problem thread someone posted a video of their cars vibration noise which turned out to be a speaker that is meant to amplify the engine noise... yours might be the same. Sometimes I can hear vibration and it does sound a lot like a speaker noise, I plan to report at the dealer but mine is not all the time but always on acceleration.

Dash vibration is very simple to be fixed: come from gasoline pipes in the engine side, just on the wall that delimits the cockpit...
The dealer workshop can fix it in less than half an hour...

Not wanting to hijack the thead, but when the "Sound Amplyfier"?? was removed the noise stopped. So this might be a different vibration noise.. Although have you seen this first hand? Is this the noise your referring to? 2011 Polo GTI vibration noise - YouTube

I have also seen many DSG issues, but they are usually fixed with a new transmission (as long as the dealer agrees to fit a new transmission). Don't be concerned with the polo gti - but if I were you, (as Hail said) I would try and buy a Golf GTI. Or have a test drive of other hot hatches, like the Citroen DS3 etc.

                        such a shame.....

VWG losing customers who WANT TO BE LOYAL, all because of trying to define the bottom dollar.

wahey yall!!! we rednecks here in australia dawnt kno mutch! but if renault ever decide to bring the twingo 133 here, DONT expect people to wait for a polo gti for 18 months on a ghost boat....

bring the gt up! here.... god... i've quit two of the best of the world's universities TWICE, and im guessing precisely because of that, i cannot impress upon mr pimplescrotum (we've all been there) that perhaps bringing the up! gt might be a case worth establishing in australia.......

but at any rate, according to SHORT term post 2011 cars.... VW OUT, FIAT/RENAULT IN, apparently...

I have to state the obvious, that for every unhappy Polo owner there many happy one who don't go in the forums. In many cases people find the forum when they have a problem and google, then post the complaints.

I don't own Polo, but from all our 7 family owned VW's (1 is Skoda) none is using oil and we don't have any of the odd issues people report here, so I guess we have to be lucky, but also from 6 people driving VW's, I'm only one in the forum, the others don't bother.

So, to OP, remember there are lot of happy Polo owners too.
