    My polo has turned 20,000km........

Ive decided to list what i like and don't like about the car

    Like.....
    - Engine.....Sounds nice and rorty
    - DSG.....Is now smoother in its shifts, blips the throttle on downshift, DSG flutter/fart between shift
    - Fuel economy.....When driven accordingly it sips fuel
    - Handling....Great grip, XDL works to cut under steer very well
    - Interior.....Looks as good the day i got it, RCD510 (and RNS510 if u have one) add a bit more class
    - Taillights.....cant get enough of them

    Dislike.....
    - Dash rattle.....got fixed in july, now its back
    - Pure white cat hair....Finds its way into the inside of my car and shows really easy
    - No money.....I want that stage 1 DNA tune

    Overall i love the car.....

Your right gavs, sorry i did mean EDL (electronic diff lock)

XDL being the extended, more effective system available only on GTI's

yeah well it doesnt really matter, dan.

both cars being impressive, but this being your thread, i must say that i was VERY something.

firstly, i've put up more than a couple of posts on here, pertaining to my test drive in a 77tsi and how impressed i was with the car then.

to be behind you on the last monthly melbourne cruise, and to see how capable that car is, is quite an experience.

i guess it would be due to the 6R's lighter weight, as well as the fact that the tiny 1.2L engine is small and light as well, but DAMN the 77tsi is agile! honestly, dan, your car (and any other 77tsi for that matter) is already good, but if you were to just put in better brake pads, rotors, and fluid, then not only would your brake smell have NOT permeated through my cabin (and sinuses) on the way down dandy, you'd also find your car VERY VERY VERY formidable in the twisties, against more expensive "sports version" hatches.

i shudder to think just how many "sports" cars the polo 77tsi would spank with just the following: rotors, pads and fluid; a stage 1 tune; good tyres.

honestly, i pity anyone who neglected to test drive the 77tsi, and ended up buying a swift sport, for example. "demolish" would about sum it up.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I regularly take my stock (not for very long) 77tsi for a spanking through the twisty stuff behind the Sunny Coast and Samford, I've got a tune and some springs on the way, after that all I'll really be wanting performance-wise is a swaybar and brake mods and I'll be quite happy with my little jigger for the total outlay

Haven't done 20kkm but am enjoying the TSI as well. Really like it as a car - my wife likes it a lot as well, so have to make sure she doesn't steal it from me! I agree the TSI is nimble, nice and light and easy to drive.

I wish the ESC could be dialed back a bit - I find it kicks in a bit off the line or coming out of the side streets a bit randomly and when really not needed. I don't want to turn it off completely, just want it to not jump in and retard the engine when I need more power to get ahead of traffic. Can't quite figure out why it's kicking in - mostly it doesn't seem to need to - haven't lost traction, or anything too aggressive.

As always, a little more power would be nice. Prob can't convince myself to do the upgrades, but suspect I'd like it if I did.

Scott, surely the acrid stink of brakes wasn't as bad as the paranoia you instilled in me on the run down hill into marysville with your tyres howling so loud in protest I thought there was a banshee in my boot!

I agree, the 77tsi was such a great little car, I actually preferred the torque though of the tdi though. BUT, once I took the GTI for a run, I just couldn't pass it up

lol gavs i must admit that was some vicious tyre protestation, but next time that happens, you neednt worry - given the weight of my engine block, i'll be careening straight off the road, well away from you as you track around the corner haha.

i think i need better tyres

Apart from a dash rattle, which has gone (for the summer months anyway), I love the TSi.
With the DNA tweak, that extra mid range oomph is awesome. Pop the DSG into S and I can't help but raise a smile as the 1.2 outperforms many a rival

                        as for my TSI
i cant stand it. i much prefer my old Alfa that broke down all the time and fell apart
i find the TSI is just to much fun to drive
also it uses to little fuel
and dont get me started on how easy it is to park, i need to challenge myself
It also lookes like crap and definalty isnt worth spending any money on

only an idiot would buy one

Last time I checked the Dusuki Swift Sport was rated at 8.6secs to 100. This poops all over the TSI's 9.7 but the TSI does appear faster...no idea why?

Wouldn't mind the tune but the DSG is sick

And is also not available from APR??? But everyone else

Couldn't agree more! I just hit 10,000 kilometres on the 77TSI and I couldn't be happier with it! The engine has a gorgeous sound for a 1.2 and my DSG has been flawless (touch wood) and it shifts between gears lovely. Love nothing more than chucking it into Sports Mode on a fine day and taking it for a spin! In fact, writing this makes me want to drive it right now! Haha In conclusion, fantastic little car, I had the dash rattle problem too, but you can check out the guide I posted to fix it. Amazing little car, going to take it down to the Southern Highlands this weekend, should be a good run for the engine!
