Wish i could have made it, would have been great to compare manual vs DSG
Maybe you could tell the difference in handling /performance etc.; I don't think I could. To me it's a matter of preference. I like just like manual cars. ... and I like my little polo VERY much. May not be as gutsy as the GTI's, but it does still hold it's own. ... we even managed to keep-up with the others.

I would say handling would be pretty much the same, i got the DSG over manual as i sit in alot of traffic on way to work etc.......
Great thing with the DSG is you get the blurp/fart when you upshift and downshift....... not as loud as a GTI polo/golf but enough to encourage you to have a play......
On a quick note (sounding like a nerd) if you remove the parcel shelf, boot divider and put the back seats down you can hear it so much better.......in a manual car you would be able to hear the raspy exhaust note
Yeah, it was a really great day for it, cool conditions but that's only better for these cars

Not entirely and to be fair, nearly every car there had been worked, most of them with suspension and power mods. Callum's 9N3 GTI was the only other true stock car except for brake pads.
Now, on a serious note:
All you 6R polo owners that are commenting on "...oh, I really wish I had come...." etc, DO IT NEXT TIME! It was a fluke day, true, to get the perfect day that we did (except for ol' mate in his bomb triton on the black spur!) and I didn't need to pull any suicidal over-takes with farmer joe this time but from no on, there is no excuse.
Thanks to people actually turning up to this one, including 1 other 6R, I might just organise another cruise at some stage but you guys seriously need to commit.
Great piccs you guys & gal hehe.
Thought of you all with envy on Sat, surely we could have snuck a Golf in, would have blended in easier than the yellow imposter- lol.
Pleased the weather was on your side and hopefully you will have one in the next millennium (should have the Polo by then)
You're an honourary 6R owner, you should have tagged along

Close enough though and baska's other half was a delight to watch from behind as we came into Marysville - very smooth braking and turn in + good corner speed (and was held up by the aforementioned GTi). The 6R chassis looks to be very balanced and the stock Comfortline suspension and tyres are probably more capable than most of the GTi pilots.
My fire-breathing, modded monster is in another performance category, of course

Re. "bomb triton on the black spur" ... Something along the lines of what Bflat mentioned at some point... "the things you see when you ain't got a shot gun..."
And thanks Kaanage ... I'll pass that on. - He'll get a buzz. Once upon a time he used to drive rallies in a very old beetle; so I guess he's a V-dubber from WAY back. . Good that he drove those stretches, I would have embarrassed myself.
