  • Rcd510 mdi ipod cable

    I purchased the following item:

    VW RCD510 RCD310 RNS510 MEDIA-IN MDI IPOD IPHONE CABLE (eBay item 250778879621 end time 25-May-11 20:02:24 AEST) : Electronics

for my new 11' polo, but it wont recognise my ipod classic. Can anybody confirm that my cable is incorrect. If so which cable should I be looking for?

    Thanks

Hey mate. Your link isn't working, but check out xcarlink... I got my iPod adapter though them, and they are great. Great price too..

I have fixed up the link and hopefully the underlying problem so this wont be an issue anymore when posting eBay links.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Does this cable not come with the Polo if you get the audio pack?

That's a bit dodgy. So you pay $700 for the audio pack and can't connect an iPod to it??

To the OP, I wonder whether it's the iPod rather than the cable that's an issue? Per the last post an iPod touch works, I'd suggest you try to borrow one from a friend and see how that works just so as to rule out a hardware to hardware issue between the iPod and the head unit.

                        Just a thought

yeah thanks. I also tried my iphone 4 also. Which didnt work. The phone displayed something along the lines of not compatible with iphone message. The cable does charge both the classic and the iphone4 however i might add.

The iPod cable doesn't come with the sound pack unfortunately yet I got mine for $60 from the dealer, a bit of a rip considering the rcd510 seems to freeze and not recognize the iPod when it can't handle too many songs. Especially with the newer iPods and iPhones.

Mmmm interesting thought. What's the deal re RCD510 and firmware updates to keep track with hardware connected via the medi interface?
