    Fuse guide

Thanks again! You have been eat help so far...
Looking to do install later today or tomorrow... Few more Questions...

    - why do you need a replacement 10amp fuse? The videos I have seen so far tell me to just wrap wire around a fuse and stick it in

    - for the photo of your wrapped yellow fuse, does this mean you wrap the wire on that bit then use red heatshrink?

    I think that's about it...
My main thing is trying to understand wrapping the fuse as opposed to plugging it in.

I have seen the butchers on Youtube and wouldnt let them within a bulls roar of any of my cars.

If you want to just stick the wire in and risk a fire Do it Ive installed 6 cameras this way which is safe and sure.

Stick one into your airbag one and you may regret it

I posted a picture and part numbers of what to buy from Jaycar using these is the safest way
The socket you plug the extra fuse in has a contact on one side only, therefore for safety I covered the other pin so that nothing can.
touch it as it is live.

THE YELLOW FUSE has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT It was just to show you how to cover the pin on the one you buy from Jaycar.

In a VW it doesnt pay to add extra wires to certain circuits as it can cause problems and as fuses arent marked adding a wire to one could cause severe problems.

Read my instruction regarding the insertion of the fuse carefully as it only goes in one way

You are not WRAPPING a fuse you are preventing a live terminal being exposed.
You still plug it in as in the photo of mine with the wire coming off it One terminal on that fuse has the heatshrink on it.

Look at the photo in the earlier post which has vacant slots and work out where I told you to put the two fuses.

The reason for buying the ones I suggested is that it is very hard to solder onto the terminals of a fuse ( Ive Tried)

Once again The ACC power is the fuse with the red wire coming off it The permanent power is in the socket between the 2 25amp fuses, 4 fuses to the left and in the top row. Buy two of the ones in the picture in the first link Standard size Part number SF5110. $6.95 each
Those fuses have the wire SOLDERED onto them when they are made and by putting them in spare sockets they dont affect anything else

Cover one pin of the fuse Put them in the socket with the covered pin DOWN Connect the wires from the PM using proper terminals NOT twisting together.
In the pic of the end of the dash you can see the black earth wire under the bolt head in the left bottom of the pic. I also put tape around the ciggy socket to make sure the plug from the camera didnt vibrate out. Had one do that in a rental car when on holiday.

Mate if you cant follow that perhaps you should get a friend to help you as its pretty basic Its about 20 minutes work once you have the two fuses.. Its just buy the bits and plug them together.
I ran the wires up the door seal across the top of the A pillar trim and along the front of the roof just used a bit of blutack to hold it as roof lining doesnt allow you to push it up inside the edge of it.
Start at the camera after you have it installed and work back or you will have a mess

Doesnt quite work out even turning it upside down because mine is flipped horizontally

The number 49 is blank in mine but so is 27 and neither are blank in that picture list
