On second thoughts, think I might save the trouble and stick will relaxed, cool-silver metalic. Save the trouble of having to clean the layer of road dust everytime I park back at the house. Also, don't want to risk losing my Sept/Oct arrival for a delayed progression through to production which could put the GTI arriving in 2012.

I wonder if themmc is an iPad buyer as well Everyone has a instant gratification itch in society at the moment. And when its not "scratched" by the manufacturer in double speed time then all hell breaks loose on the internet.

Corey is right Gladiator, a wise choice if you want your Polo GTI in a reasonable (Volkswagen reasonable) time frame

As I have said here a number of times I ordered in Dec and wanted a late May delivery (almost 6 months) to be able to swap over cars without having to incur more insurance, registration and servicing on my existing car. The dealer said that they had a week 9 build slot which would allow this to happen. It then disappeared somewhere between the dealer and VGA. Someone lied and no one is fessing up as to who did. I'm not ordering a GTI, as per my signature I'm ordering a 77TSI. I don't own an iPad (1 or 2). I just want a car in the time that was promised to me as it's financially bad for me to have a late delivery.

Well, that's an easy one themmc:
1) The dealer miscommunicated in December that the week 9 build slot was confirmed (because we all know that no build slot is confirmed that many weeks out); or
2) The dealer lied; or
3) Kinda related to option 1, but maybe you misunderstood or made an assumption on what they were telling you about the build date. They may not have said it was confirmed, but you assumed it was

I'm not having a go at your or saying which one of those options was the case, but what I can tell you from your last post is that none of this is the fault of VGA.

I was expecting delivery end of Feb 2012. Spoke to the dealer today who confirmed build week 21 and said I might get delivery in August. His comment to me was that mine would probably be the only Polo with a sunroof they would ever see because so many people were put off by the one year wait. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up but for today at least, I'm a very happy person.

If it is August, it will be a fantastic 40th.....errrrr....I mean 30th birthday present to myself.

Make sure you do get a NADCON screen update regularly from your dealer....just ask nicely

Has anyone ordered a Polo Gti recently? I've spoken to 3 dealers (looking at both that and the Golf) and none of them are interested in selling one - probably because they're getting sick of getting an earful everytime they place and order and it blows out +6months.

Interestingly, I walked into a dealer on Saturday and they'd just had a cancellation on a Polo Gti due in about October. Unfortunately it had Alacantra (+2k), Xenons (+1.6k) and the comfort pack. If I'm going to get a Polo I'm not going to spec it up. Gave them an offer they could refuse... so they did. As much as I'd like one, I'm not paying 37k for a Polo.

Some demos are starting to appear on Carsales. Unfortunately at inflated (more than new car cost!) prices.
I shot off a couple of emails to some Sydney dealers and they said supply hasn't improved and one mentioned 18months.
