/me wonders why dealers are being delivered stock when people who have orders in aren't getting them when promised.

VAG = fail to plan, fail to deliver.

Guys... lets get over the posting of comments such as the above.
VGA are focusing on customer orders and limiting (if not completely stopping) floor stock deliveries for some models for some dealerships.

HOWEVER, VGA have no control over the minds of their customers. Customers CAN and WILL change their minds from time to time, hence dealers end up with deliveries of "highly desireable models" without an assigned customer.

I think that it's great that dealers such as Serge come on here to give VWWatercooled members the "heads up" and first opportunity to grab one of these cars. I think that it's sad that each time they do they seem to get several negative comments either directed at them or VGA for their trouble.

What is wrong with criticism of VGA? What's with the sensitivity of about a large car company? Certainly in my case I'm waiting 3-4months longer than promised, to MY financial detriment.

It's been done to death already... as I said, please don't take it out on the dealers who are nice enough to spend some of their time here and help out forum members.

How was my comment "taking it out on a dealer"? You maybe over it, but some of us are still annoyed about a lack of information and progress coming from VAG.

Because you responded to the dealers post (with quote). You were appearing to take a backhanded swipe at the dealer.

To explain everyone and i dont even know in how many threads i should put what i will write below...
                  Alocation and Ordering of Cars.

                  It is an example only
                  Lets pick any month.
                  February for example.
We have sold 5 Polo Gtis. You were the 5th person to buy a polo gti in that month
VGA gave us an allocation of 2 polo gtis that we can order.
First 2 polo orders gets allocated for this month and will arrive in 6 months time.
                  March:
we have 3 people that are waiting for a polo gti and havent been allocated as yet.
We have sold another 4 polo gtis.
This month VGA gave us an allocation of 2 more polo gtis for an order.
We allocate those 2 polo gtis to clients who placed an order in february that were number "3 and 4" in month of february.
Now we have 5 people who are waiting for polo gtis 1 from previous month and 4 from this month.

You being number 5 is very pissed off because you still dont know when you car will arrive, since you placed an order in february.
And guess what, in month of April we dont get any allocations of polo gti. So YOU have to wait for the next month and finally your car gets ordered 3 months later with arrival in 6 months.

Now, we dont know what allocation of cars for ordering we will get every month from VGA, hence we cannot tell anybody when your car will be allocated.
Fortunately Polo has been such a successuful car that there is a WORLDWIDE shortage on them. Please dont blame dealers or VGA for not ordering cars for you. People who order their cars first (if they want car to be build for their spec) will get their car first.
I hope i didnt confuse anybody with what i wrote and its nice and clear now.

Even though I don't have a polo gti on order (that's because the kind sales lady at barloworld vw mentone (serge's colleague I presume) advised there may be be a wait of up to 1 bloody year because she doesn't want to upset me and rather keep me as a potential future customer than a current and soon to be disgruntled one) I still do find Serge's explanation and other dealers explanation misleading (to a degree and completely fails to advise customers on one point) and it all comes down to trying to make a sale and gettng customers to sign on the dotted line and often than not advising people of delivery dates in the times within 3-6 months when they know damn well that it may not neccessarily be the case and could be up to 1 yr wait due to shortage and specific options required and when they are manufactured. Is it that sales people are too desperate to add sales to their monthly quota and hence not being entirely honest to the best of them morally or is it how this games works or lack thereof with VW? Don't get me wrong I still don't mind buying another VW but would be much happier if other sales people to be as honest as the one I've dealt with. That way, even if my car does take up to a bloody year to be delivered, at least I was prepared for the long wait prior to signing on the dotted line. And of indeed it takes the year to arrive at least there's no one to blame but would be bloody happy with the dealer and the sales person if it arrived even in 6-8 months. Of course some people do cancel their orders and the lucky ones may happen to walk in and stumble on an offering (still most probably full RRP as they would point out the high demand) of a close to no wait situation but that's also due to the possibility of either someone cancelling their order or that's what the dealer ordered for their allocation and up to now, no-one wanted or decided upon that combination. It is nice for Serge to jump on the forums to help us out but its just another sales tactic which may or may not work and may or may not produce fruitful results for his own quota with extremely happy or once again disgruntled customers. I'm being as neutral as possible here but I do understand peoples frustrations and am only chiming in here with my opinions and what I've experienced with a very helpful and honest sales representative from VW and not only that from the SAME DEALER so as most people know there are the good, average and bad sales people. But on a final note, because of the bloody long wait and us requiring a car immediately, we decided to buy another car which we're very happy with (still within the VAG stable) but would have signed on for the Polo Gti if we weren't so desperately in need of a car right away and if the wife could overlook the minute boot space compared to the last model. I rekon I would've optioned the bloody thing up and twiddle my thumbs for a year (or maybe less) LOL.

                    • yeah what's with the over-promise, under-deliver?

i thought it was supposed to be the other way around in business?

(cue the "well obviously you dont know anything about business, scotty- it's perfectly acceptable to renege on what's been promised and to frustrate and mislead your customers once they've locked into the deal.... if you dont think that's okay, scotty, then you obviously dont know anything about business.....)

it makes me proud to be part of a community that apparently is SO ACCEPTING AND ENCOURAGING of such mediocrity...

                      • I can see where both arguments are coming from and respect each side, although my experience with dealers and VGA was not a pleasant one, so I guess I am a little biased
Would be interesting though for Serge to indicate a price on the cars he is offering....will it be RRP or MORE I don't think it is a state secret, so in future, any dealer that advertises on this forum should publish their prices. Hey, it's only fair

                        • The "price" varies depending on what state the person is in, their post code (in applicable states), their age (in applicable states) and even driving history (in applicable states). Therefore it's not possible to correctly list what the drive away price would be.

All they can do is tell you what the RRP price of the base car + options is, which you should already know anyway...
Then when an interested party contacts them, they can then figure out what the "drive away price" for that individual is.
They can then obviously negotiate the final sale price from there.

None of which, is appropriate for posting in a public forum...

                          Comment

                          • Very well then, let them list the RRP, because I can tell you, most dealers will quote a higher price as seen on carsales recently. This supply and demand crap will continue, so whatever state Serge is in, let him quote a RRP for his state and I can bet there will be no negotiation on price. Don't get me wrong, these advertisements are useful, but they target people who are desperate, can't wait and want to pay really top dollar for a VW

I think that's being a bit oversensitive. If Serge has stock I don't blame him trying to sell them.

And I think this is the problem at the end of the day and the bit I don't understand. Manufacturing isn't some random last minute thing. I don't quite understand why VW Group globally don't have this whole thing under control and thus they know what allocations they have at a minimum and thus dealers and the end customers (ie. the people handing over their money) have a better idea of what's going on.
