Good news guys, went to a friend at autobarn today and pulled apart the air intake etc.
Found that there isn't too much modification to the stock box etc that needs to be done.
I didn't take pics as we were doing it but basically we took out the stock filter which was a pod like shape already, mounted a Pod filter bracket to the top of the airbox and then whacked on a pod filter, high flow.
The car is insane now, way more play on the turbo, way more responsiveness, it feels more like a little go cart now with its responsiveness. I didn't think it would make much difference but jeez it did. Its mainly mid-high revs you get the difference with added take off in first - something the TSi was dearly lacking.
Best part is, to take it back to Volkswagen for warranty i just detach the pod and bracket and re-attach the original filter. About 10 minutes of work.
I'll try and get pics when i get back under the bonnet this weekend.
Sounds like a hot air intake without a proper sealed airbox enclosing it from underbonnet radiant heat. Pods are good only if they are enclosed in an airbox, prove me wring by doing a before and after with stock airbox on a dyno
Not hot air... The original filter which is already pod shaped just restrictive has been replaced so all original hosing and the cai is still intact too, infact i will be widening it at some point.
Pics will come wen i can get time, and a dyno? Well u can pay, if not then ull just hav to find out for yourself
Cool cool I will end up doing a k&n panel myself and if possible will do before and after to check that out. I am interested to see pictures of what you mean by pod.
Do you have the 1.4 though? From what i seen, a panel filter wont fit into the 1.2t unless you replace the whole airbox?
If you take out the filter in the 1.2 its actually a pod shape with standard plush filtering in it

Anyone else notce how odd that the dry clutch-pack DSG boxes all seem to conveniently have 250 Nm of torque when this is the maximum that the gearbox can handle......?

How would one go about purchasing said tune?
It reads that they only remap, how would you get that done in AUS?
hm being a remap though I'm sure we aren't far off from seeing VW performance shops offering it... unless they already are.
If it was at the $400 dollar mark here I'd jump for it.
