Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Revo Technik have been around for ages.
Those figures are engine dyno of course (as is expected), not wheel dyno. They seem to be favoring killerwasps at the expense of torques though...

Yeah, though with the GTI motor already apparently maxing out the torque limit on the gearbox, probably not such a bad thing... Thanks Joe, didn't really look before posting

        *shakes head*

You know that the 6sp DSG in the Golf has a 350Nm rating? As does the 6sp manual in the Golf. And you know that people are running around with 500Nm+ in both right?
So 250Nm to 320Nm in the Polo GTI on the 7sp DSG is well within its "headroom" - especially since there is no launch control.

Additionally, you don't get 320Nm of torque in the APR and other tunes from "idle", it starts exceeding the stock torque around 1750rpm and peaks around 2800rpm - which means again, you're not going to be taxing the gearbox.

Now thing about where you do most of your driving?
between 1750 and 3000rpm, or at the redline?
        I know what I'd rather!

        Torques over killerwasps

Ok, another lunch searching for polo goodies...

might be worthwhile going for these as an upgrade after destrying the original tyres...
          Tyre Search, Dunlop, Australia

I'd probably go this size •235/40R17 94Y Nice an Fat

          This technically isn't aftermarket...

But was thinking of getting one for the GTI, until i saw this pic, it doesn't seem to fit right....

Looking on eBay there are a few varients out there.

                  Do you recall the supplier?
And did you fit yours inside the lens assembly or under the bumper line ?

I can't recall the supplier but you have to do some research for the right assembly for the Polo, I looked at not only Ebay here but in the UK as well. Some sellers in the UK say they don't ship internationally, but if you email them, they generally will. Mine was installed under the bumper, for the C4 it was impossible to get into the headlight housing as everything is sealed. As I remember, there are generally two ways of adding DRLs, a dedicated housed assembly which fits under the bumper (that's how I did it), looks more professional and seems pretty bright. The other is a much cheaper alternative, strip LEDs, I know most people will say they are crap, but IMHO if they are installed correctly they look pretty good. The strip is more versatile as it can be mounted just about anywhere with heavy duty weatherproof double sided tape. Google as well as part of your research.

I also purchased a xenon look with angel eyes (BMW type) headlight assembly from this mob: http://www.jp-sports.de

Surely I can keep that VW quality presence without looking like a FalCodore. No drilled out muffler, or cheap chopped springs - no siree. No rice add on. Surely our German brothers and sisters do a Q set. Hella or Bosch?

Aftermarket DRL strip = rice add on

Hey guys was looking at the engine bay and would getting fabricated a custom dump pipe and exhaust, larger custom 2inch inlet piping from throttle body to airbox, larger cold air inlet hose to airbox. And then get a custom remap.
