      • Just a few picks of my car. Only change is the denvers have been painted to look like detroits, thought it might be relevant the "wheels" thread

        • Nice wheels .

Did it cost much for the conversion or did you do it yourself? Always preferred detroits over denvers!

          • Very nice! Also interested in cost and if it was a home job?

If it was professional, how did you explain what you wanted them to do?

              • Thanks. Yeah it was done professionally It cost $160 a wheel. But you can get it done a little cheaper if you don't have the wheels fitted to the car (I didnt have the means to take all four wheels and tyres off the car and then refit). Some places quoted as low as $120 if you supply them with the wheel only. I just took in a picture of denver painted to look like a detroit, it was actually a picture of someone elses wheel from this forum.

Also I'll take some better pics when the sun doesnt ruin the pic lol

                • Awesome work Ilikebrunettes! Now we've got an example of that being done by a Polo 6R and Golf MK6 member!
I think they really finish off the car nicely

                    • Looks great. Those in Melbourne can do a group buy wheel job? I am either going to do this or change wheels.

                      • So am I correct that this involves machining then painting the wheels?

Seems a pretty good solution vs new wheels and trying to sell the old ones.

                        • I had the wheels (sanded/machned back) to remove the orignal paint. They then painted the gloss black on the whole inside part of the rim and the outer part you can see and then the outer grey colour which is exactly the same as the original colour. They had my car for for 2 1/2 days though so the paint could set which was tough... missed her lol. Really happy with the result though, it looks alot better then original. I'll post some before and after pics when i get the chance to take some better shots.
I had it done at a trivett tyres in parra, thet were the only ones that could keep the car overnight that i called anyway

                          • Great result at a great price. Full points to you for coming up with the idea and making it a reality.

Gav's - I reckon you might have some ideas about this for Melb?

Hey Corey, do you recommend this mod to wheels?

If so, any recommendations re where to bet it done in Melb?
