Taking delivery tomorrow afternoon. A night of no sleeps for me. Super excited, 8 months and 3 weeks from date of order to pickup of GTI.

Hi there,

I've got a feeling that our dealer might be stuffing us around and wondering if anyone can offer some advice for when we go see them tomorrow regarding the delay in getting our car!

I put a deposit down for my car in September they said it would be delivered by 31 oct but most likely mid oct, however it's now past that date n they said it should come this week. Now this week is over no car no call! The sale mans excuse was it's coz it's plated 2012 but that makes no real sense as a delay reason to me.

My contract also doesn't list the VIN which one is seeming dodgy!

Tomorrow I'm going to ask them to show me on the screen exactly what's going on, can someone pls help me as to what I should ask to see and what exactly I need to track my car?

Some help would be much appreciated!

Took delivery of my baby today, just realised the GTI emblem at the bottom spoke of the steering wheel is not there. Grrr... didnt think that this would be something that they remove/fitted at the dealer. But clearly was forgotten.

apart from that, car is a fantastic drive.

How do they forget that? Just another thing I'll be adding to the pre-delivery checklist!!

I don't think it's something that they add at the dealer. It's possible that it wasn't attached at the factory, or that it was knocked off at some point (not being attached well enough at the factory etc). Just bring it up with your dealer.

First off, it's called NADCON and it is the online ordering / tracking system that the dealers use. If they can't / won't show you an update of the vehicle's status etc, get the dealer principle involved. Tell them what the promised delivery date was, tell them about the lie you have been told about being a 2012 plated car (it will actually be plated as 2011 but a MY12 spec so that's also wrong, unless of course they're telling you the truth because you won't recieve it until next year) and that unless the car is in you hands by the end of November, you will be taking the matter further because to get you to sign the contract with the lies thay have told you falls under deceptive and misleading conduct against a consumer.

Guys, really. With all of the horror stories on this section of the forum alone, you all need to wisen up. These are car salespeople and all they care about is making their commision and will tell you whatever you want to hear. Get everything in writting because as I too found out regarding delivery dates, if it sounds even remotely too good to be true, it is.

IT'S HERE!!!!! Well the ship anyway, it just docked.

Now that wait begins for delivery! Just emailed my dealer to let them know the ship is here, even though they think it's still not due to dock until Sunday!

I pick up the GTI on Friday after 7 months and two weeks of waiting!

Time taken for the car to leave the boat (Port Melbourne), clear customs and have the accessories fitted will be 16 days so not too bad.
