not necessarily - PATRICKS has a lot to do with it; sometimes the cars get marked "damaged" and all it is is a missing spare key or a badge is missing. The dealerships do not get notified about this delay or any ETA. Given that the keys come out of Singpore, this quickly adds 10 days. Normally most sales consultants do not have access to NADCON, as it is the ordering system (wouldn't want someone to accidantely order 20 Touaregs now, would we...). This leaves either the stock controller or manager to track the status - given that both have other duties you can apreciate that they don't update the vehicle status from factory on a daily basis.
As I said in other parts of the forum, it is in everyones interest to get the cars out as quickly as possible: customers, VW, VGA and last but not least the sales person - after all we all do not get paid until you handover that bank cheque

That is true Christian, but the info i got is literally straight from the horses mouth from Patrick's Autocare management. Indeed if the car is listed as "damaged" off teh truck, then it becomes the resposibilty of the stock controller to flag that and note it against the vehicle's VIN in the Patrick's hand-held computer system. What you are saying implies that Patrick Autocare rectify this situation (ie missing badge) yet Patrick Autocare, confirmed by a colleague in the office sitting behind me who's last job was at the facility in question in Melbourne, have categorically informed me that all tehy do here is like you say, note damage (if any) and fit the compliance plate. Everything else for VW's is done at dealership pre-delivery stage, once the stock controller has taken responsibilty for the car off the transport. This COULD be a Melbourne/eastern seaboard specific situation mind you, Perth could be different due to the volume of VW dealerships....

If the dealer swap is done after the car has been loaded onto the ship it will be dropped off in the harbour it was originally destined to. Due to time & logistics the shipping company will not shuffle around 100s of cars only to take one out. The key for shipping companies is minimum docking time as docking the ship in the harbour costs them major money.

if that's the case mine might have been a cancelled order since after my purchase i was given a vin number 2 weeks after then another 3 weeks before it showed up in the tracking website.

This is getting painful . My Polo arrived in Melboune on the 17th, however won't be ready in ADL until the 17th of October due to them fitting stuff:

I'm told that's about normal. VWA told me in an email it was marked for urgent delivery, which I don't believe for a second.

just got that magical call from the dealer this afternoon to tell me that the car is ready to be picked up this friday. just so happens it's my day off as well. turns out the eta end of september noted on the contract was spot on. two sleepless nights coming up.

I spoke to the dealership today and while its in Brisbane, its still with Patricks. They said that to be on the ultra conservative side I shouldn't expect it till Wednesday or Thursday next week

I was actually expecting the call sometime next week as reading from the forum the expected waiting time from dock to dealer is around 2.5 to 3 weeks. Since mine landed in melbourne on the 13th this month i was expect a call after the 4th of next month minimum so yeah definately a big plus.

i will seriously be taking sleeping pills tonight as i did not get much sleep last night and now i'm at working posting on the forum dizzy as. Even if i'm drowsy tomorrow when i pick up the car at least i know i will get guaranteed rest.

That's exciting news Babs! My car arrived on "Porgy" in Melbourne yesterday so should be released at the docks today Starting to get excited now! If your car is on the same Vessell Gumpf, it's due to arrive in Brisbane on the 3rd of October according to the schedule.

in the meantime tonight i'll be doing this until the sleeping pills kick in.

also lucky too, my brother in law has a day off so he can drive me. saves me from taking the bus to the station, taking the train and then grabbing a taxi to get to the dealership.
