You need to have either a trim remover tool or make do with a flat head screwdriver to very very gently unclip the trim that surrounds the head unit.......

Then you will then need a torx screwdriver that fits the four screw that hold the unit in place........

Once they are removed you can gently pull out the head unit......

Once the head unit is out disconnect both cables......

Then with the new unit connect the cable, place back into dash, put screws in etc......

If needed i can post some pics up showing the process..........

          • Update for all those who were interested in the rear lights (black variant) that was posted a few weeks back.

Spoke to the contact to which the RHD lights cannot be sent here as they're meant for the European market of polos.

Sorry to kill the hype hopefully down the track something can be done.

                • Well, technically speaking it changes the valve timing. The dyno chart that I was shown showed that it gained approx. 12 kW and 52 N.m over and above the original stage 1 tune, although that was on APR's stage 2 Polo w/ intercooler, intake, exhaust etc.
Where it shows improvements in my car (tune only) is that there is a definite increase in torque, and that the power delivery is a LOT smoother. I've spent 5 minutes writing then deleting sentences trying to describe how it feels, and funnily enough the only word that keeps coming to mind is 'meaty'. There is lots of power everywhere across the rev range, whereas the old tune had 'patches' of power here and there, if that makes any sense.

I 100% recommend this tune to those of you with the APR stage 1 already, and I 200% recommend it to those of you with stock cars. If you're impressed with your GTI now, just wait till you give this a go!!

                      • Where did you get the load sill film from? I tend to load heavy stuff (musical equipment) in my boot a lot. Thinking of getting some load sill film installed. I know the dealer can do it too. Just wondering if I should do it myself.

Getting the film installed by Duco Scratch but I think that anyone who does vinyl wrapping or ventureshield or similar should be able to do it. Cost was $80 from Duco Scratch dealer quoted me well over $200 + GST.

                          • $80 incl installing is a good price. Curious as to what the dealer use. I got a quote for $110.
