haha might be the go at some point in the near future...mind you, launching the thing is a bit of a handful, trying to get an okay take off without too much wheel spin or bogging the car down is interesting!16' Manual Polo GTI - APR Stage 1 - VWR Springs - HF Carbon CAI / 00' Supercharged Magna VR-X - 275kw atw

I am interested in fitting a gas strut to my Gti as well. What size and where do you get it? Also, any special methods in fitting it?MY19 Polo GTi 2.0 DSG

Which LED bulbs did you use for the fogs? I got that kit the other day and did the install which was awesome only to find that the trunk was a wedge instead of the cylindrical one lolOriginally posted by green_comet View PostI put some led fog lights in to match the temperature of the led headlights.

I ended up going with these bulbs, which I can't seem to find from that same ebay seller anymore.

They give off a very similar light pattern to the standard h8 bulbs (unlike cree bulbs), while being much brighter, they also match the LED headlights/DRL's tempreature and don't throw any errors. These just swapped straight in and worked perfectly and are still working spot on.
Here are some more pics of the setup.
Before (IPF Super J deep yellow 2400k halogen h8's)
After (led setup) *Just fogs on in both pics*
I highly recommend!Last edited by green_comet; 08-07-2016, 08:09 AM.MY18 Passat 206tsi R-Line | Harvard Blue | Wagon

Had a Milltek downpipe fitted today to compliment my already fitted Milltek cat back (resonated). Worthwhile increase in power and with the Burger Motorsports JB1 'tune' with a George Smooth 'map 6' profile the car is officially insane
. Yes it's a DSG, my second DSG VW, love it and I have 100% confidence in it handling the extra power because I am the only one that drives the car
.
The old downpipe has some heat shielding at top and I intend to wrap the top of the Milltek downpipe and install some shielding to deflect the heat downwards from the engine bay.
Used a 42DD spacer, no fault codes and confident will never get any. Thank you 'Primordial'.

No worries Brian - glad to hear you got it all fitted up!Originally posted by car_nut View PostHad a Milltek downpipe fitted today to compliment my already fitted Milltek cat back (resonated). Awesome combo with the aftermarket downpipe and JB1 - good choice! Enjoy the powah!
Edit: By the way, did you tune your Map 6 using logging, or are you just using defaults? I'm still running Map 1 on mine. I haven't delved into that world just yet. I found a handy tutorial on youtube the other day though. Thinking I might give it a try one day soon!
Also, I've heard of a few people running 10% E85 mix with 98RON (me included) to great effect. Bumps the octane up to about 99RON, which will allow you a bit more boost. I can definitely feel the difference, and the car runs a lot smoother. If you have a United fuel station nearby, you should consider it.Last edited by Primordial; 20-07-2016, 05:27 PM.

George suggested the settings to suit my car for map 6. I think your best idea is to read through some of the 200 plus pages of the US Golf forum to get an idea on map 6 settings to suit a Golf R with downpipe, there is also a separate thread for map 6.Originally posted by Primordial View Post

10% E85 gives a touch over 100 ron but reduces the fuel weight by around 2%, be careful as that means a ~2% leaner mixture, so check the A/F ratios.Originally posted by Primordial View PostAlso, I've heard of a few people running 10% E85 mix with 98RON (me included) to great effect. I upgraded the rear engine mount bushing to a 70 durometer Superpro item. This made a very noticeable difference to the way the car puts power down, it feels far more direct and not like the motor is throwing itself around the engine bay. I highly recommend installing one.
