Normally this wouldn't matter to much but with the first batch of clutches the compound would delaminate when it became hot (which the constant slipping provokes) and would leave hotspots creating the shuddering. The fact is the first design of clutches have problems and everybody will have a problem sooner or later. I had mine start to slightly shidder at 22,000km, my bro is having a fair bit of slipping (not shuddering) at 50,000km and I test drove a jetta with 4000km on the clock and that had serious shuddering at low revs.
It's all a matter of time. Touch wood the revised clutches (made in 2012) that were put in have so far kept their consistently and I have done 30,000km with them without any major problems (for some reason it slips going into and out of 5th only - mechatronics I think)
My Polo is a January 2012 build and the clutches are current slipping in low gears (like you described) when the DSG heats up or after about 45mins of driving. Would my car currently have the bad batch of clutches? The clutches are going to be replaced next month so they should definitely be the revised ones, right?
Thanks in advance, Mate!MY16 Golf GTI Performance Pack

Yes Gavs is correct there was only one revision from before 2012 (with a "C" destination) and from 2012 it says its a "A" destination for petrol models. This is from the official TPI. Not sure if they are the exact same clutch but there are in total 4 clutches. A, B, C and one without a destination.

Not much for sight in designing the original clutches, considering the programming.
Fixing the DSG program would make sense, but as has been pointed out, would be at the expense of fuel economy.
Edit: should have read the remaining posts before replying!
Can't believe they haven't changed the clutch material in all that time! What ARE they thinking?

The latest clutch pack revision is still revision 'C' which was introduced early 2011. I fell for this when told by the one service tech I trusted, until I looked at the online parts system for myself. Unless its been revised to revision 'D' in the last 3-4months...

Just lowered my 77 TSI with 35/55 HR springs.
Bloody hard ride on our third world country roads. Like stated on previous posts, original shock do not have enough rebound control.
The car thuds on sharp objects such rail crossings, bridge expansion joints and road repair patches. God help me on a decent pot hole.
Think twice about going this way. I will try some adjustable shockers on the back only as it seems to be the biggest "bouncing" problem. Has anyone tried this?????
With 18x7.5 wheels on the way no doubt the ride comfort will deteriate more.

well I have had them since Wednesday and my opinion is so far....
I like the height it is at, I like the look, compared to stock springs I feel bumps a lot more, pot holes are the worst like as Veeu said its really hard when it hits so I'm starting to look out for them more. But there's a road I use near my house and its like a roller coaster lol but I guess you get used it. I'm happy with it its just different .

VEEEUU, look I went with the 25/40 cause I wanted that really low look but not low where I can't drive like I drive normally over speed humps and everything so its good
. Yeah I have the same problem with bumps and sharp objects but its getting used too. Personally I didn't want to go KW V1 cause of the price and how much it is i couldn't find anywhere that I could get a good price so i thought go with springs.

This would be my attempt to tame the HR 55 rear springs. Not even sure if this would be a reasonable/safe option.
